Dongxiang Autonomous County Dongxiang Autonomous County is located in the southwest of central Gansu Province and the east of Linxia Hui Autonomous Prefecture, 103 ° 10 ′~ 44 ′ East latitude and 35 ° 30 ′~ 36 ′ north latitude. It is adjacent to Dingxi City in the East, Guanghe and Hezheng counties in the south, Daxia River in the west, Linxia city and Linxia County in the west, and Yongjing County across the Yellow River in the north.
Historically, there was no county system in Dongxiang, which was under the jurisdiction of Hezhou. Dongxiang was liberated on August 22, 1949. In October 1950, according to the policy of regional ethnic autonomy, Dongxiang autonomous region was established at the county level. In 1955, according to the constitution of the people's Republic of China, it was officially named Dongxiang Autonomous County. In 2017, Dongxiang Autonomous County is expected to achieve a GDP of 1.805 billion yuan.
On September 25, 2018, it won the honorary title of "2018 e-commerce into rural comprehensive demonstration county" of the Ministry of Commerce. On the morning of November 21, 2020, the Information Office of Gansu provincial government held a press conference to announce that Dongxiang Autonomous County will withdraw from the poverty-stricken county sequence.
