Linhai City, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Zhejiang Province and managed by Taizhou City, is located in the central coastal area of Zhejiang Province, on the south wing of the Yangtze River Delta economic circle, connecting Donghai County in the East, Xianju County in the west, Huangyan District in the South and Tiantai County in the North. It is the economic, cultural and transportation center of Taizhou region, and the vice central city of Taizhou. Linhai City, referred to as "Lin", is a national historical and cultural city. Since Tang Dynasty, it has been governed by Taizhou government. In 2020, Linhai City will be selected as one of the top 100 counties in terms of comprehensive competitiveness and investment potential. In November 2019, it will be selected into the "top 100 of China's county-level cities' overall well-off index in 2019". In July 2020, the National Patriotic Health Association confirmed Linhai as a national health city in 2019. In November, it was rated as the sixth national civilized city. In December 2020, the Academy of Social Sciences issued the "top 100 comprehensive competitiveness of county economy in China", ranking No. 50 in Linhai.
Historical evolution
Linhai has a long history. As far back as the Neolithic age, human beings lived and multiplied here.
Xia, Shang and Zhou: in Xia, Shang and Zhou (21st century bc-771 BC), Linhai belonged to ou.
Spring and Autumn period and Warring States Period: it was the residence of Yue. It belonged to Yue State in spring and Autumn period and Chu state in Warring States period.
Qin Dynasty: after Qin unified the six states, it belonged to Minzhong county.
Han Dynasty: in the second year of the first Yuan Dynasty of the Western Han Dynasty (85 BC), Huipu county was set up, and the county was governed by Zhang'an, belonging to Kuaiji county. During the reign of emperor Zhao (86-74 BC), the eastern capital of Kuaiji was set up in Zhang'an.
In the first year of Jianwu in the Eastern Han Dynasty (25 years), Huipu county was changed to zhangan county.
Three Kingdoms: during the reign of Emperor Wu (222-252), Linhai county (named after Linhai mountain) was set up in the west of Anxian county and part of Yongning County.
In the second year of the Taiping reign of Wu Shaodi (257), Linhai county was set up in the east of the branch Ji County, and Zhang'an was set up in the county administration.
Jin Dynasty: in the first year of Taikang in the Western Jin Dynasty (280), there were 800 households in Yin county and 200 households in the north of Zhang'an county. Ninghai County was established as Linhai county.
Sui Dynasty: kaihuang nine years (589), the abolition of the county, Zhang'an, Shifeng, Ninghai, Le'an into Linhai County, Chuzhou. Kaihuang 11 years (591), the transfer of county governance in Dagushan (now the ancient city street). In the third year of Daye (607), the Prefecture was changed into a county, and Linhai County belonged to Yongjia County.
Tang Dynasty: in the first year of Wude (618), Shen faxing fell into Linhai, known as Haizhou. Wude five years (622), renamed Taizhou. In the sixth year of Wude (623), Fugong Yifan sent Xu shaozong to conquer Linhai, which is still called Haizhou. In the seventh year of Wude (624), Fugong Yiping was renamed Taizhou. In 625, Shifeng, Le'an and Zhang'an counties were merged into Linhai county. Zhenguan eight years (634 years) re divided Linhai County, home to the first Feng county. In 675, Ninghai County was set up in the northeast of Linhai county. Kaiyuan 21 years (733 years) Li Jiangnan Road. The first year of Tianbao (742) was called Linhai county. Song Dynasty: Taiping Xingguo three years (978), Wu Yue State except, into the song territory, Li two Zhejiang Road.
Yuan Dynasty: in 1227, Taizhou was changed into the office of the general manager of Taizhou Road, which was still set up in Linhai and under the jurisdiction of Zhejiang Province.
Ming Dynasty: in the first year of Hongwu (1368), Taizhou road was changed into Taizhou Prefecture, which was subordinate to Zhejiang Province.
Qing Dynasty: Shunzhi three years (1646), into the Qing territory, along the Ming system. Kangxi first year (1662) under Zhejiang Province shaotai road. In the seventh year, Li Ningtai wenhaidao. From the Tang Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, Linhai has always been the seat of state, county, road and government in Taizhou.
Republic of China: in 1912 (the first year of the Republic of China), the system of government, prefecture and department was abolished. In July, the military and government branch of Taizhou was abolished and directly under the provincial government.
In 1914, the province set up Dao, abolishing Fu Cun County, belonging to Kuaiji Dao.
In 1916, Daofei was directly under the provincial government.
In June 1921, Zhejiang provincial government tried out county inspectors among provinces and counties. Linhai is the Sixth District. In September, it was re established as the fifth special zone.
In October 1922, it became the fourth special administrative region.
In August 1924, the coastal administrative supervision area was set up and the office of the commissioner was set up.
In 1925, according to the "Interim Regulations on the organization of the office of the Commissioner of administrative supervision" newly issued by the Executive Yuan, Taizhou was called the seventh administrative supervision district, belonging to Linhai.
In July 1929, Sanmen County was established in Nantian County, 18 townships in the southeast of Ninghai County and 5 townships in the northeast of Linhai county.
In April 1937, it was divided into the Fifth District, but it was not implemented. In July, it was re divided into the Sixth District.
In June 1949, the PLA took over Linhai and established the county people's government. In October of the same year, Taizhou special zone was established and stationed in Linhai.
In May 1950, the district directly under Linhai Chengguan was abolished and assigned to Linhai county.
In May 1954, Taizhou special zone was abolished and Ningbo special zone was set up near the sea.
In July 1957, Taizhou district was restored, and Linhai district was restored.
In October 1958, Sanmen County was abolished and merged into Linhai county. In December, Taizhou district was abolished, and Linhai district was designated as Wenzhou district.
In April 1962, Taizhou district was restored, Linhai district was restored, and Sanmen County was restored. The original Sanmen County was completely zoned out.
In October 1978, Taizhou area was renamed Taizhou area, which belongs to coastal area.
In July 1980, the former commune was put under the new Haimen special zone.
In January 1983, the coastal commune was transferred to Jiaojiang city.
At the end of 1984, four villages, namely Zhang'an, Yangsi, Zilin, Huangjiao and Dafen, were designated as Jiaojiang city; the next year, Zhang'an district was abolished and Shangpan district was established.
In March 1986, the State Council approved the abolition of Linhai county and the establishment of Linhai City, which is the political, economic, cultural and transportation center of Taizhou.
In August 1994, the State Council approved the abolition of Taizhou and the establishment of a prefecture level Taizhou city. The Municipal People's government is located in Jiaojiang District, and Linhai City is a provincial city under the administration of Taizhou city.

In January 2001, the administrative division of Linhai City was adjusted: the system of Chengguan town and Xiaoxi township was abolished. Meanwhile, 12 villages of Yangyan, Zhuangtou, Qianjiang, Xilin, Tangli, sangyuan, Luohe, Zhexi, Shuangtian, Meiao, Shiyun and maditou under the jurisdiction of Datian town and 3 villages of Kaishi, Qiaodong and Xixin under the jurisdiction of shaojiadu town were changed to Linhai Municipality.
Gucheng sub district office is set up, with the former Chengguan Town Donghu, Lucheng, Jinshan, Gulou and Xijiao offices as the administrative scope. It has jurisdiction over 49 neighborhood committees and 33 villages, and is located in Lucheng Road (the former Chengguan town resident).
Dayang sub district office is set up, with the former Linhai Economic Development Zone, 12 villages under the jurisdiction of the former Datian town and 3 villages under the jurisdiction of the former shaojiadu town as the administrative scope, 8 neighborhood committees and 30 villages under the jurisdiction of wujiadian village.
Set up Jiangnan sub district office, with the former Chengguan Town Chengnan office and the original Xiaoxi township as the administrative scope, with jurisdiction over one neighborhood committee, 39 villages and Xiangyang Road.
In December 2001, the administrative division of Linhai City was adjusted: Hongguang town and Shuiyang town were abolished, and Yanjiang town was merged. Yanjiang town governs 46 villages and is located in Shuiyang Village (original site). The organizational system of zhangjiadu town and Aiguo township was abolished and Kuocang town was merged. Kuocang town governs 47 villages and is located at No. 1 Kuocang Road (the original site of zhangjiadu town). The organizational system of genglou Township and Yanxi township was abolished, and Yongfeng town was established by merging with badai, Aodong, Aoxi, Lizhu, longtankeng, Kengtou, Xialu, fangshantou, Dutou and Liuxian villages in Gucheng street.
Yongfeng town governs 78 villages and is located in Liuxian village. The management scope of Gucheng street is adjusted to 23 villages and 12 community residents' committees, located at 295 Lucheng Road (original site).
The organizational system of Datian town and Xianrenqiao township will be abolished, and Huixi town will be established by merging the administrative region of the former Xianrenqiao Township with 18 villages of the former Datian Town, including juntou, tongyanling, shangxiliao, wayaoshan, Paiqian, Xiaman, jiang'ao, Lingjiao, Jianggen, Dongkeng, Xixi, liming, Xiaokeng, Fenglin, huangnitan, gu'ao, Nancheng and liangtoumen. Huixi town governs 37 villages and is located in juntou village.
Dongyang town and Lianpan township will be abolished, and 27 villages of Lianpan, Yongxing, Yingshi, Gongping, Puhou, Silian, Sanlian, Liyu, Shanhu, Shuanglian, Aoli, Xinqiao, Yingxiong, Yanxia, Zhongcheng, Shannan, tangkun, Tunshi, Xinshan, Chenjia, wukeng, wukeng gate, bairuoshi, Dongguashan, shitaitang, houhoushan, Nangang will be merged with Taozhu town.
