Zeku County, belonging to Huangnan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Qinghai Province, is located in the southeast of Qinghai Province and the south central part of Huangnan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. It is adjacent to Xiahe County of Gansu Province in the East, Mongolian Autonomous County of Henan Province in the south, Tongde County of Qinghai Province in the West and Tongren County in the northeast. It has a total area of 6550 square kilometers and a total population of 66900 (in 2019).
Zeku County governs 2 towns and 5 townships, and there are scenic spots such as Heli temple. In 2005, the GDP of Zeku County was 281 million yuan, accounting for 131.30% of the planned GDP.
On April 21, 2020, the people's Government of Qinghai Province issued an announcement to approve Zeku County to withdraw from the poverty-stricken county sequence. In October 2020, it was rated as the national model city (county) of double support.
Evolution of organizational system
The Yuan Dynasty was under the jurisdiction of Xuanwei Department of Tubo.

After the founding of the people's Republic of China, Zeku County was set up in 1953 by Tongren County, which is subordinate to Huangnan Tibetan Autonomous Region (now Huangnan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture).
By the end of 1999, Zeku County had an area of 6455 square kilometers and a population of 47082 (according to Qinghai Provincial Records). It has jurisdiction over 8 townships: xiaderi Township, ningxiu Township, heli Township, Wang Township, qiakori Township, duofudun Township, Xibusha Township and duohemao township.
According to the fifth census in 2000, the total population of Zeku County is 54288, including 5161 in xiaderi Township, 11805 in ningxiu Township, 8816 in Heli Township, 3218 in Wangjia Township, 4427 in qiakori Township, 8486 in duofudun Township, 2297 in Xibusha Township, 7117 in duohemao Township, and 2961 in suonaihevipi township.
On March 19, 2001, the people's Government of Qinghai Province issued the reply of qingzhenghan No.21 document: xiaderi township of Zeku County was abolished, and zequ town was established and named (the residence of the town government remained unchanged). After the adjustment, Zeku County governs one town and seven townships: zequ Town, ningxiu Township, heli Township, Wang Township, qiakori Township, duofutun Township, Xibusha Township and duohemao township.
At the end of 2001, Zeku County had one town, seven townships and 60 animal husbandry committees. Zequ town is located in jibaori, and has eight animal husbandry committees, namely, Erguo, barize, Zefan, xiaderi, kuarilong, dongkeri, rexuri and yangmar. Qiakori Township, located in xiaderi, has seven animal husbandry committees, namely, cuorigeng, xiongrang, Jiaohu, Erjian, gagong, gaoshize and zhihelang. Doherton township is located in doherton and has jurisdiction over six animal husbandry committees, namely, longzang, Sailong, hazang, Gongqing, duolong and Garang. Duohemao Township, located in duohemao, has jurisdiction over seven animal husbandry committees, namely, tatuhu, duoheli, Kening, qumari, jiacang, xiuqia and dageri. The whole territory of Zeku County is long and narrow from east to west. Most areas in the county are above 3500 meters above sea level. The highest point is zamarigang mountain in the north, with an altitude of 4971 meters. The lowest point is 2800 meters above sea level, with a relative elevation difference of 2171 meters.
