Zhenping county is located in the southeast of Shaanxi Province (the southernmost part of Shaanxi Province) and the north foot of Daba Mountain. It is located at 109 ° 11 ′~ 109 ° 38 ′ E and 31 ° 42 ′~ 32 ° 13 ′ n. It borders Zhuxi County in Hubei Province in the East, Wuxi County and Chengkou County in Chongqing in the south, and Pingli County in the northwest. Jixinling is known as "three provinces with one crow" and "three provinces with one foot". Jixinling is the junction of Shaanxi, Chongqing and Hubei. It is also the "natural National Heart" of China, so it enjoys the reputation of "county of National Heart".
On September 25, 2018, it won the honorary title of "2018 e-commerce into rural comprehensive demonstration county" of the Ministry of Commerce.
In March 2019, it will be listed in the first batch of counties for the protection and utilization of revolutionary cultural relics. In the third year of King Zhao of Qin Dynasty (304 BC), Qin returned to Shangyong and Chu in Hanzhong County, and now Zhenping area is under the jurisdiction of Chu.
In the 19th year of King Qingxiang of Chu (280 BC), Chu and Qin fought. Chu offered to Qin the north of the Han River and Shangyong. Now Zhenping belongs to Qin.
In 221 BC, the Qin Dynasty unified the six states, and Xicheng county was governed by Hanzhong county.
In the Western Han Dynasty, following the system of the Qin Dynasty, Changli County was set up in Hanzhong County, which governs today's Zhenping area.
In the 30th year of Guangwu in the Eastern Han Dynasty, Changli County was abolished and merged into Xi county and Xicheng county. In the 20th year of Jian'an (215), Hanzhong county was renamed Hanning County, and Fenxi County belonged to Shangyong county. In 221, Xicheng county was changed into Weixing County, which belonged to Jingzhou. In the first year of Wei Jingchu (237), Xi county belonged to Weixing county.
In the first year of Taikang in Jin Dynasty (280), Shanglian county was set up, which belongs to Shangyong County of Jingzhou and governs today's Pingli and Zhenping areas.
In the southern and Northern Dynasties, Shanglian county was established in Song Dynasty, and Jiyang County was established. In the Southern Dynasties, Jiyang was designated as Jiyang County and Shanglian county. Zhenping was still Shanglian County, first Weixing County, then Shangyong county. Liangshangyong county belongs to Weixing county. In 552, Shanglian county was changed into Ji'an County, which belongs to Ankang county and governs Zhenping county. Three years (554) set up Jinzhou. In the second year of Wucheng (562) of the Northern Zhou Dynasty, Xicheng was withdrawn, and its jurisdiction was incorporated into Ji'an County. It has jurisdiction over Ankang, Langao, Pingli and Zhenping, belonging to Jinzhou.
In the Sui Dynasty, Xicheng county was restored and renamed Ji'an in the 18th year of kaihuang (598), still belonging to Jinzhou. In the third year of Daye (607), Jinzhou was removed and Xicheng county was set up. Ji'an County was renamed Jinzhou, and now Ankang, Langao, Pingli and Zhenping were under the jurisdiction of Xicheng county. In the 13th year of Daye, all prefectures and counties were abolished.

In the early Qing Dynasty, Zhenping belonged to Pingli County, Xing'an Prefecture, Shaanxi Province. In the first year of Qianlong (1736), Xing'an Prefecture was under the jurisdiction of Xing'an Dao. In 1783, Emperor Qianlong promoted Anzhou as his government. In the southeast of guanghuali in Pingli County, that is, to the south of Qiushan, Zhenping inspection department was set up. In the fifth year of Jiaqing (1800), Han road was changed into bingbei road in southern Shaanxi. In the second year of the Republic of China (1913), the people of the county petitioned for the promotion of the county, and Pingli divided the territory for governance. Zhang Fengdan, governor of Shaanxi Province, replied: the establishment of a county government is of great importance. We should observe the situation and handle it at our discretion. In 1916, he petitioned Shengxian again. In 1919, Zhenping elected local people Luo Shi'an and Yang Shaoqing to stay in the province and petitioned the military and political departments to establish the county. Pingli organized fellow villagers in the province to strongly oppose it, while Pingli local people organized support at the same time. It was not approved until 1920. At that time, the provincial department planned to take Qiushan as the boundary, and the four townships of hongzeng, Baxian, Baiping and Baiya within jinmaoguan were assigned to Zhenping. Pang Zongji, appointed by the governor's office, and Liu Renjun, governor of Langao County, appointed by the governor's office, were members of the survey and demarcation Committee. Pang Chengfu county should be upgraded and its boundary should be delimited. Liu Zhenghua, the governor of the province, made a decision according to Liu Fu. It belongs to Hanzhong Road in Shaanxi Province. In the 22nd year of the Republic of China (1933), the central road of the Han Dynasty was cut off, and the office of the administrative inspector of the Fifth District of Shaanxi Province was set up.
After the founding of the people's Republic of China, Zhenping county people's government was established in January 1950, which is subordinate to the regional Commissioner Office of Ankang, Shaanxi Province. In December 1958, the system of Zhenping county was withdrawn and merged into Pingli County. In April 1963, Zhenping county system was restored, which belongs to the administrative office of Ankang District, Shaanxi Province.
