Huaiyin District, subordinate to Jinan City, Shandong Province, is located in the west of Jinan City. It faces Qihe County of Dezhou City across the Yellow River in the north, Shizhong District in the south, Tianqiao District and Shizhong District in the East, and Changqing District in the West. It is one of the four central districts of Jinan City. It is between 36 ° 37 ′ - 36 ° 45 ′ N and 116 ° 47 ′ 40 ″ - 116 ° 59 ′ e, with a maximum transverse distance of 15.3 km from east to west and a maximum longitudinal distance of 13.5 km from north to south. The total area is 151.48 square kilometers.
Huaiyin District is high in the South and low in the north, high in the West and low in the East, belonging to the continental monsoon climate zone of warm zone. The Tianjiazhuang site in duandian town is the earliest cultural site found in Jinan; the former site of the Party branch of Jinan Machinery Factory of Jinpu railway of the Communist Party of China is the birthplace of the first party branch in the jurisdiction and one of the early activity sites of the Communist Party of China in Jinan.
As of 2018, Huaiyin District has 16 streets under its jurisdiction, with a permanent resident population of 527000, and a gross domestic product (GDP) of 53.17 billion yuan. In terms of industries, the added value of primary industry is 260 million yuan, the added value of secondary industry is 15.18 billion yuan, the added value of tertiary industry is 37.72 billion yuan, and the proportion of tertiary industry is 0.4:28.6:71.0.
Historical evolution
Before the Ming Dynasty, from the East head of the current South Sophora tree to the north, through the East Street and Jinger road of Zhongda Sophora tree, to the west head of the North Sophora tree, there was a earth stone hill, high in the South and low in the north, winding and undulating, which looked like a long dragon. Trees were planted on the hill to resist the wind and sand. The Huaishu area in the south is well populated, so it is called panlongzhuang.
Before the first year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1573), because there were many ancient locust trees in the village, it was renamed Da Huai Shu Village.
Before the 36th year of Qianlong in Qing Dynasty (1771), it was divided into three big pagoda tree villages: South, North and middle. In 1904, after Jinan opened a commercial port, the three big huaishuzhuang in the south, North and middle gradually became urban residential areas.
In the 36th year of the Republic of China (1947), the name of Huaishu village in South, North and Zhongda was cancelled, and its central streets were changed to NANDA Huaishu street, Beida Huaishu street and Zhongda Huaishu Street respectively. After liberation, the streets and alleys of South Huaishu street, North Huaishu street, Zhongda Huaishu street, huaicun street and Huaiyin street were successively derived.
In 1955, according to the State Council's instruction that "city districts should be changed to place names", the Sixth District with more streets and lanes named after Huaishu was changed to Huaiyin District.
In 1956, the area of jurisdiction was adjusted: from Jinpu railway in the north to Shandong cement plant in the South (now Jinan cement plant); from Weiwu road in the east to Jinpu railway in the West.

In 1929, the system of "Fang, Lu and Lin" was adopted. There were 10 Fang, 20 Lu for each Fang, 5 neighbors for each Lu, and 5 households for each neighborhood.

In January 1951, District 7 was merged with Zhongda Huaishu street and Daode street in District 9 and Wansheng street and Huaiyin street in District 10 to form District 6.

In September 1955, Wuli Township, six suburban districts, was designated as the fifth street. In July 1956, some areas to the west of Weiwu road and xiaoweiliu Road South Street in Shizhong District were classified as jingsan road street, and the areas to the north of Wansheng street were classified as Tianqiao District.

In January 2013, some administrative divisions of Huaiyin District were adjusted, duandian town and wujiapu town were abolished, and four streets, Xingfu, Yuqinghu, Lashan and wujiapu, were set up.

The strata in Huaiyin area are divided into Ordovician, Carboniferous, Permian, tertiary and Quaternary.
Middle Ordovician, about 100m thick. It is mainly composed of cyan gray limestone and leopard skin limestone, with a small amount of dolomitic limestone, marlstone and breccia marlstone. It is only exposed in liuchangshan, dingzishan, Lashan and Emeishan.
Middle Carboniferous, about 45m thick. It is composed of light gray limestone, gray silt and variegated claystone, occasionally with a layer of unstable coal. It is mainly distributed in the north of Longwangmiao in duandian town.
In Permian system, the lower series is mainly composed of silty fine sandstone with 1-5 layers of coal, about 100m thick; the upper series is mainly composed of claystone, mudstone and siltstone with quartz arkose, about 140m thick. It is mainly distributed in the west of qilipu, wujiapu town.
The tertiary system is mainly composed of arkose, conglomerate, claystone and sandstone. It is mainly distributed in the north of dajinzhuang and xiaojinzhuang, with the largest thickness in the area of xiaolongwang temple.
The quaternary system is a loose deposit, covering almost the whole area. It is thin in the southeast and thick in the northwest. The sediment grains are coarse in the South and fine in the north, coarse in the West and fine in the East, coarse at the bottom and fine at the top. The bottom layer is gravel layer or gravel with cohesive soil, and the surface layer is muddy cohesive soil.
Magmatic rock
The magmatic rocks in Huaiyin area are part of the Jinan pluton. It is mainly gabbro, and the edge gradually transits to diorite or limestone diorite. It is a complex caprock which is inclined and extended northward. The rock mass occupies the eastern, northern, central and southern parts of the area, accounting for about two-thirds of the total area of the region; the maximum thickness is about 1800-2000m in Wuyingshan and Kuangshan areas. In the area of liuqigou, xiaojiatun and Xisha Wangzhuang in the north of the area, there is a Dali rock mass with small thickness floating on it.

Huaiyin area is located in the transition zone between the middle mountain area of Shandong Province and the North Plain of Shandong Province. There are two geomorphic types: accumulation plain and denudation hill.
Accumulation plain
There are three subgroups: slope proluvial, alluvial proluvial and alluvial. It is high in the South and low in the north, high in the West and low in the East. It is distributed in the south of dayangzhuang and duandian. The ground elevation is about 35-50m and the terrain slope is about 10 ‰. The alluvial proluvial plain is distributed in the north of dayangzhuang and duandian, and the south of Xiaoqing River. The ground elevation is about 25-45 meters, and the terrain slope is about 4 ‰. Alluvial plain, distributed between the Yellow River and Xiaoqing River, is mainly composed of silt, loam and sandy loam. The terrain is flat and the ground elevation is about 24-26 meters.
