Geer County, located in the westernmost part of Tibet, along the Senge Zangbu and Geer Zangbu river basins, is one of the 18 border counties in Tibet. It covers an area of 17197 square kilometers. The cultivated area is 8900 mu. The total population is 42000. It has jurisdiction over 4 townships, 1 town and 11 administrative villages.
Ga'er county is surrounded by mountains, and the middle part is low and flat. The average altitude is about 4350 meters, and the highest altitude is 6554 meters. There are 12 lakes in the county, including Langjiu lake and Xinga lake.
There are three main highways in Gar County, namely Yeshi highway, ARI highway and hei'a highway. There are 498 kilometers of highways in the territory. With Shiquanhe town as the center, kunsha airport is officially open to navigation, and the natural moat becomes a thoroughfare.

In 1987, the party, government and military organs of Gar county were successively stationed in garyasa and garkun.
In 1987, Gar County moved to Shiquanhe town.

Zhaxigang District: established in 1960. Located in the west of the county government, 60 kilometers away from the county government, with a population of 0900. There are 12 lakes in Gar County, which is the upper reaches of the Indus River. It flows through the arid and cold region of Northwest Tibet, with a total length of 430 km, a drainage area of 27000 square kilometers, and an annual runoff of about 700 million cubic meters. It originates from the northern side of Gangrenboqi peak, with an altitude of 5164 meters. It is a periglacial zone, and flows into the desert area downstream. It passes through Geji, Shiquanhe town and other places, and joins with the tributary garzangbu in zhaxigang. After leaving and entering Kashmir, it is called Indus River. Located in an arid area, Shiquan river system is underdeveloped, with an average runoff depth of only 25 mm and an annual runoff of about 700 million cubic meters, which is the smallest of the outflow rivers in Tibet.

water resource
Geer county has the least rainfall in Tibet, with annual rainfall of only 50-80 mm. There are swamps and hot springs. Hot springs are mostly phreatic water gushing from the cracks of igneous rocks, which not only replenishes the river, but also increases the temperature of the river, so that some river sections are rarely frozen in winter.
