Dongguang County is located in the southeast of Hebei Province, the lower reaches of Heilonggang basin and the south of Cangzhou City. The total area is 730 square kilometers, with a total population of 350000 (2004). It is adjacent to Wuqiao County in the south, Nanpi County in the north, Fucheng County in the west, Jingxian County in the southwest, Botou City in the northwest, and Ningjin County in Shandong Province across Zhangweixin River in the East. The county seat is 55km south of Cangzhou municipal government and 180km South East of Shijiazhuang City, the capital of Hebei Province. It is more than 260 kilometers away from Beijing and 160 kilometers away from Tianjin.
Beijing Shanghai railway runs through north and south to build Dongguang station, and Handan (Xingtai) - Huanghua Port Railway (hereinafter referred to as Handan Huanghua railway) passes through to build Dongguang north station.
In October 2017, it was named National Garden County by the Ministry of housing and urban rural development.

Historical evolution
Dongguang County was established in the fourth year of emperor Gao of Han Dynasty (203 BC). At that time, it belonged to Bohai County of Youzhou. In the fourth year of the reign of emperor Zhang of the Han Dynasty (79th year), Dongguang County was transformed into lechengguo. In the seventh year of emperor Yongyuan of Han Dynasty (95), it belonged to Bohai Prefecture of Jizhou.
During the period of the Three Kingdoms, Dongguang was the territory of Wei, which was subordinate to Bohai County of Jizhou.
In the Western Jin Dynasty, Dongguang County belonged to Bohai State of Jizhou. In 277, Emperor Wu of Jin abolished the state and changed it into a county. In the 10th year of Taikang (289), Emperor Wu of Jin Dynasty was transferred to Jizhou state. In the first year of Tai'an (302), Emperor Huidi of Jin Dynasty was also a member of Bohai Prefecture in Jizhou.
During the northern and Southern Dynasties and the Northern Wei Dynasty, Dongguang belonged to Bohai County of Jizhou. In 458, Emperor Wen Cheng of Wei Dynasty moved the Bohai prefecture to Dongguang County. In the Eastern Wei Dynasty (534-550), Dongguang County still belonged to Bohai County of Jizhou. In the Northern Qi Dynasty and the Northern Zhou Dynasty, Dongguang belonged to Bohai Prefecture.
In the Sui Dynasty, Dongguang County belonged to Bohai county. In 583, Emperor Wen of the Sui Dynasty was transferred to Jizhou. Kaihuang nine years (589) home Guanzhou, Dongguang County Guanzhou. In the second year of Daye (606), Emperor Yangdi abolished Guanzhou, Dongguang also belonged to Jizhou, and in the third year of Daye (607), it was transferred to Pingyuan county.

In 786, Jingzhou was set up in Hebei Province, which governed Dongguang County. In 821, the first year of emperor Mu Zong of Tang Dynasty, Jingzhou was abolished, and Dongguang County was also Cangzhou. In the second year of Changqing (822), Jingzhou was established again, and Dongguang County was one of the subordinate counties. The fourth year of Taihe (830) of Tang Wenzong abolished Jingzhou, and Dongguang County belonged to Cangzhou. In the first year of Jingfu (892), Emperor Zhaozong of Tang Dynasty restored Jingzhou, and Dongguang County became Jingzhou.
During the Five Dynasties, Dongguang County belonged to Jingzhou. In 955, Dongguang County was transferred to Cangzhou.
In 981, Dongguang County was transferred to Dingyuan army of Hebei East Road. Zhenzong Jingde first year (1004) Dingyuan army renamed Yongjing army, following the jurisdiction of Dongguang County. In the early Jin Dynasty, Yongjing army was promoted to Jingzhou, and Dongguang County was under its jurisdiction. During the reign of Jin weishao and Wang Da'an (1209-1212), it changed its name to Guanzhou, and still governed Dongguang County, which belonged to Hebei East Road.
In the second year of the Yuan Dynasty (1265), the emperor Shizu changed the state of Guanzhou to Jingzhou, which belongs to Hejian road and governs Dongguang County.
In the early Ming Dynasty, Dongguang County was under the jurisdiction of Hejian Prefecture.
In the seventh year of Hongwu, Emperor Taizu of Ming Dynasty (1374), Dongguang was abolished and incorporated into Fucheng county.

In 1648, Emperor Shizu of Qing Dynasty set up Zhili Province, and Dongguang belonged to Jingzhou, Hejian Prefecture of Zhili Province. In 1928, Zhili Province was changed into Hebei Province, and Dongguang County was directly under Hebei Province. In 1937, it was divided into the eighth supervision district of Hebei Province. In September 1937, the Japanese army occupied Dongguang County, and Dongguang County was occupied.
In August 1938, the Anti Japanese democratic government of Dongguang County was established as the sixth Office of the inspector general in Southern Hebei. At the beginning of 1941, Dongguang County belonged to a special department of Hebei Shandong border region. In January 1944, Hebei Shandong border area merged with Qinghe base area to form Bohai Sea area. In April of the same year, Dongguang County, Wuqiao county and Nanpi County merged to establish southeast Wu County, which is a special office of Bohai administrative office of Shandong Province. In September of the same year, Dongguang led to the Japanese puppet public boundary in Heilong village, Nanpi County, and divided southeast Wu County into two counties. Southeast county is to the north of the highway, and Dongwu county is to the south of the highway. In February 1946, Dongguang County, Nanpi County and Wuqiao county were restored. Dongguang County is still a special office of Bohai administrative office of Shandong Province. In August 1949, the first special office of Bohai administrative office of Shandong Province was renamed Cangnan special area, and then governed Dongguang County.
After the founding of the people's Republic of China, Cangnan district was abolished in Shandong Province in May 1950, and Dongguang County was designated as Dezhou District of Shandong Province. On November 7, 1952, Dongguang County was put under the jurisdiction of Cangxian County, Hebei Province. On April 28, 1958, Cangxian district was abolished and Dongguang County was changed into Tianjin district.
