Yangbi Yi Autonomous County Yangbi Yi Autonomous County is located in the west of Yunnan Province, in the middle of Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture. The county is 29 kilometers away from the state capital. It is an important town on Bonan ancient road and Chama ancient road. Yunnan Burma highway, Dabao expressway, 320 National Highway and Darui railway pass through the county.
Yangbi county is adjacent to Dali city and Weishan Yi and Hui Autonomous County in the East, Yongping County and Yunlong County in the west, Changning County in the South and Eryuan County in the north. By 2013, Yangbi county had jurisdiction over 3 towns and 6 townships, covering an area of 1957 square kilometers, with a total registered residence of 105926 people (2017).
The main scenic spots in Yangbi county are: Cangshan Erhai National Nature Reserve, shimenguan scenic area, Yuhuangge, etc.
In December 2018, the Ministry of agriculture and rural areas identified it as the second batch of agricultural products with Chinese characteristics. On April 30, 2019, the people's Government of Yunnan Province decided to withdraw Yangbi Yi Autonomous County from the sequence of poverty-stricken counties.

The origin of place names
Yangbi county is famous for its Yangbi river. Yangbijiang's ancient writing of the year "Yangbijiang" is an erroneous transliteration of "tibiee" in Yi language, which means "the river that goes out to work". According to the "explanation of the name" in "Yangbi County Chronicle data" in the ninth year of the Republic of China, "Yangbi is named after the river, which is now Yangbi river. According to Yongchang Fu Zhi, Bixi river is named shenzhuang River and Yangshui river. Because the Heihui river originates from Jianchuan, it flows around the west of Cangshan Mountain through zhaoluo, and joins with the river, which is called Yangbi river. History of Jianxian County
Yangbi was called "Mengbi / Mengbi" in ancient times, belonging to Ailao state.
In 109 B.C., the Han Dynasty conquered Yunnan and other tribes, such as Kunming and Yi, established Yizhou County, extended its influence to Ailao, and set up "Bisu county" in jinyunlong, which was under the jurisdiction of Yizhou county. Yangbi belongs to Bisu County of Yizhou county.
In 69 A.D., Ailao state was attached to the Han Dynasty, where Yongchang County was set up, and the evil dragon county was transferred from Yizhou county to Yongchang County. Yangbi belongs to the evil dragon county of Yongchang County.
In 225 ad, the Shu Han Dynasty was divided into Jianning County, Yuejun county and Yongchang County to set up Yunnan county, and the evil dragon county was divided into Yunnan county from Yongchang County. Yangbi belongs to Xilong County, Yunnan Province.
After the Western Jin Dynasty destroyed the Shu Han Dynasty, Yangbi was also an evil dragon county in Yunnan Province; after the Western Jin Dynasty, the name of Yunnan counties existed, and Yangbi was controlled by the local local government.
In the 6th century, Mengluo, a small state, was formed in the valley of Yangbi river.
During the reign of Dali, it belonged to Shengxiang County of Yongchang Prefecture and mengshe town.
In Yuan Dynasty, it belonged to Dali Road, Menghua Prefecture and Yongping County, with sample preparation stations.
Ming and Qing belong to Menghua and Yongchang respectively.
In the 17th year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1384), the sample preparation Inspection Department of Menghua prefecture (Zhili hall in the Qing Dynasty) and daniuping Inspection Department of Yongping County in Yongchang prefecture were set up in Yangbi,
In the 48th year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1620), the inspection department of daniuping was abolished. In the Qing Dynasty, the inspection department of sample preparation was still set up, which was under the jurisdiction of sample preparation flood (military officer).
In April of the first year of the Republic of China (1912), Yunnan military governor's Office approved that Yangbi county was set up in Outuo of Yunlong County and Eryuan County Based on Yangbi Inspection Department of Zhili Hall of Menghua and Yangbi Li hometown of Yongping County, with an area of about 1860 square kilometers. On June 1 of the same year, Yangbi County Office was established in xiajie, the former inspection department, and Yangbi county was officially established.
In 1913, yixidao was changed to dianxidao, and Yangbi county was divided into five districts: Southeast, northwest and central, among which the central district was also called the urban district. The five districts correspond to today's land: the east district is today's Ganpo and shunluo, the south district is today's Longtan, Jijie and Wachang, the west district is today's FUHENG and Taiping, the North District is today's Shuangjian and Maidi, and the middle district is today's Shangjie town and Hexi township. In 1914, Dianxi road was changed to Tengyue Road, and Yangbi county was subordinate to it.

According to the regulations, five households should be the neighbors, five neighbors should be the Lu, and 20 Lu should be a township. However, due to the vast territory and sparse population, the county has not fully complied with the regulations. There are 5 districts, 36 townships, 5 towns, 171 Lu and 978 neighbors. Among them, the first district (urban area) consists of 14 townships of Machang, Shandian, Maolin, Meixi, Michang, Wolong, Shizhong, Huai'an, Renhou, Ruifeng, Shahe, Shangzhuang, Xiuling and Baizhang, and three towns of Xinhua, Jinniu and Fengxiang, with a total of 77 Lu and 496 neighbors. The second district (East District) consists of Xiangyang, Shiping, Yulong, Puying, Changle and Biyu townships and Caiyun Town, with a total of 29 Lu and 156 neighbors. The three districts (North District) consist of six townships and Maidi Town, namely Ziyang, Shangyi, Jinzhan, Panshui, puping and Fushou, with a total of 27 Lu and 123 neighbors. The four districts (West District) have six townships, namely Shuangfeng, Taiping, pumang, Shizhu, FUHENG and Changshou, with a total of 22 counties and 123 neighbors. The five districts (Southern District) have four townships, namely Renli, Yongsheng, Anding and Chunshan, with a total of 16 Lu and 80 neighbors.
In April 1932, Yangbi was listed as the eighth administrative inspection zone; in 1934, Yangbi was listed as the eleventh zone; in 1935, Yangbi was listed as the fourth zone; in 1938, Yangbi was listed as the eleventh zone.
In 1937, the system of district and neighborhood was abolished. There are villages and towns under the county level, insurance under the villages and towns, and insurance under class A. Three towns and two townships were set up in the original five districts and named: Huaping town was set up in the original urban district, Erwei town was set up in the original Eastern District, Baizhu town was set up in the original Southern District, Hanying town was set up in the original western district, and Jinmai town was set up in the original northern district.
In December 1938, Yangbi county was ordered by the provincial government to rectify the household registration system and changed the system of Lu neighborhood to Baojia system. In 1944, the county set up a total of 266 a 35 Bao.
In September 1947, the dispute between Yangbi and Yongping over yigumo's ownership for 35 years was completely resolved, and yigumo was officially assigned to Yangbi county. In 1948, Yangbi county was the 11th administrative supervision district of Yunnan Province (located in Dali County).
After the founding of the people's Republic of China, it belonged to Dali special region in 1950 and changed to Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture in 1956. In 1958, it was incorporated into Dali city and set up Yangbi district. In 1961, it was restored to county. On June 11, 1985, the State Council approved the abolition of Yangbi county and set up Yangbi Yi Autonomous County.

On January 1, 1950, the mass meeting of the handover ceremony of the new and old political power was held in the county. Yangbi county belongs to Dali District, with districts under the county, administrative villages under the District, and 5 districts and 31 administrative villages in the county. On August 1, with the approval of the higher authorities, Luobi District returned to the jurisdiction of Eryuan County from now on. In October of the same year, the 5 districts were merged into 3 districts.
From July 1952 to June 1957, there were three districts and 48 townships in the county.
In July 1956, more than 20 square kilometers of nine natural villages, including zhidala, pishangfang, Zhuangfang, sanxingchang, baiqiaodi, xiegomi, luolimi, blacksmith's house and Dongjia village, in Hedong Township, District 1, Yunlong County, were assigned to Yangbi county.
On November 16, 1956, the 40th plenary session of the State Council decided to abolish Dali special region and establish Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture. Yangbi county belongs to Dali Prefecture.
From July 1957 to August 1958, there were 14 townships under the county: Shangjie Township, Huai'an Township, Baiyang Township, Hexi Township, Machang Township, Taiping Township, FUHENG Township, pingpo Township, Xiaocun Township, Maidi Township, Shaojian Township, Wachang Township, Longtan Township and Jijie township.
At the end of October 1958, the CPC Dali prefectural committee issued the "notice on merging county system", which merged 13 counties (cities) into 6 counties (cities). Among them, Yangbi, Dali, Fengyi and Xiaguan are merged into Dali City, which belongs to Dali Prefecture and Yangbi is divided into districts (adopted at the 103rd plenary meeting of the State Council on September 13, 1960).
From October 1958 to September 1961, Yangbi District of Dali City (county) set up 5 communes and 49 administrative districts.
In June 1961, the former Dali city was divided into Xiaguan city and Dali County, and Yangbi county was still divided into districts (decided at the 115th plenary meeting of the State Council on March 27, 1962).
In October 1961, Yangbi county was reestablished, still belonging to Dali Prefecture (decided at the 117th plenary meeting of the State Council on October 27, 1962).
From October 1961 to February 1963, there was a commune under the county and a production brigade under the commune. In October 1961, the county set up 187 brigades of 14 communes, including Yangbi, Huai'an, Baiyang, Hexi, Machang, Taiping, FUHENG, pingpo, Xiaocun, Maidi, Shaojian, Wachang, Longtan and Jijie. In May 1962, it was merged into 101 brigade of 11 commune.
In January 1963, the rural system reform was carried out. The county was divided into districts, and the districts were divided into communes (commonly known as small communes). The original 11 communes were merged into six districts, Shangjie district (original Yangbi, Huai'an, Baiyang, Hexi, Machang commune), Taiping District, FUHENG District, pingpo district (original pingpo, small village commune), Mai district (original Maidi, Shaojian commune), Longtan District (original Wachang, Longtan, Jijie commune) 101 brigades were merged into 62 small communes.
In 1966, there were communes and towns under the county, brigades under communes and residents committees under towns. There are 1 town, 2 neighborhood committees, 11 communes, 65 teams, Shangjie Town, Huai'an (formerly Huai'an and Baiyang communes), Dongfeng (formerly Hexi and Machang communes), Taiping, FUHENG, pingpo, Xiaocun, Maidi, Shaojian, Wachang, Longtan and Jijie communes.
