Xichong County, which belongs to Nanchong City, Sichuan Province, is located in the north east of Sichuan Basin, the southwest of Nanchong City, Shunqing District in the East, Jialing District in the south, Yanting County of Mianyang City, Pengxi county and Shehong County of Suining City in the west, and Nanbu County in the North, with a total area of 1108 square kilometers. The county is 25 kilometers away from Nanchong City in the north.
In ancient times, there was Xichong mountain, so it was named Xichong. It is the ecological back garden and satellite city of Nanchong. It belongs to subtropical humid monsoon climate zone, with shallow hill landform, annual average temperature of 16.9 ℃, annual rainfall of 980.8 mm, average altitude of 361.2 m, frost free period of more than 300 days, four distinct seasons and mild climate.
By 2019, Xichong County has 16 towns, 5 townships and 2 streets. By the end of 2017, Xichong County had a total population of 605900, with a GDP of 12.321 billion yuan, including 3.248 billion yuan in the primary industry, 4.723 billion yuan in the secondary industry, 4.350 billion yuan in the tertiary industry, and 26.4:38.3:35.3 in the tertiary industry. The origin of place names
In 621 ad (the fourth year of Wude in Tang Dynasty), Nanchong of Guozhou, the south of Longzhou (Langzhou) and Yanting of Zizhou were established as Xichong County and subordinate to Guozhou. Because the county is located in the west of Nanchong, there is Xichong mountain, so it is named Xichong.
History of Jianxian County
According to the local chronicles of Xichong, as early as four or five thousand years ago, the ancestors of the Jiangnan section of Jialing lived in the ancient land of Xichong. They not only had close ties with the Central Plains, but also created the local culture contained in the ancient civilization of the Central Plains. The ancestors who created this kind of culture were "Baipu" and other nationalities.
In the Xia, Shang and Western Zhou Dynasties (about 21 bc-771 BC), it is said that Yu divided the world into nine states, and the counties, along with Sichuan, belonged to Liangzhou. In the Shang Dynasty and the Western Zhou Dynasty, Liangzhou was merged into Yongzhou, and the county was subordinate to Yongzhou.
In the 5th century, one of the Ba people who lived in the Qingjiang River Valley of Hubei Province moved to the east of Sichuan Province and established the Ba state. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, Bazi was attacked by Qin and Chu, and its political center moved from Jiangzhou (today's Chongqing) and Dianjiang (today's Hechuan) to Langzhong. During the Warring States period, the county was still the territory of Ba.
In the fifth year of King Shen of Zhou Dynasty (316 BC), Qin destroyed Ba and established Ba and Shu counties. From then on, Langzhong County, Bajun county was subordinate to the county.
In the seventh year of emperor Gaozu of Han Dynasty (200 BC), Liu Bang was called the king of Hanzhong, and Badi was named Hanyou. After the establishment of the Western Han Dynasty, the general Jixin (Ziyan people in Xichong) made the best use of Chu to save Han Dynasty. Langzhong county was divided into Anhan county and then Langzhong County into Chongguo county (which was merged into Langzhong county at the beginning of the Eastern Han Dynasty and then restored). From then on, the county was under the jurisdiction of Chongguo county and Anhan county.
During the Shuhan period, the counties were under the jurisdiction of Xichong County and Anhan county.
In the second year of Taishi (466) in the Western Jin Dynasty, it was divided into Yizhou and Liangzhou, and the county was under the jurisdiction of Xichong County and Anhan county.
In 431, the Baxi county was changed into the North Baxi County, which was under the jurisdiction of Anhan county and Xichong County.
In the second year of Yuanqin (526) of the Western Wei Dynasty, Nanliang and beibazhou were changed into Longzhou, Jincheng County, Jinqian County of Longzhou, and Anhan County, Nantang County of Liangzhou.
In the third year of kaihuang (583), Emperor Wen changed the county into a prefecture, and implemented a two-level system of prefecture and county, with Anhan county and Jincheng County subordinate to Longzhou. In the ninth year of kaihuang (589), Anhan county was changed into Nanchong County, which was under the jurisdiction of Jincheng and Nanchong counties in Longzhou.
In 621, it was divided into Nanchong and Xiangru counties to set up Guozhou. In the same year, Nanchong of Guozhou, the south of Longzhou and Yanting of Zizhou set up Xichong County, which was subordinate to Guozhou. In the first year of Zhenguan (627), Xichong was subordinate to Guozhou of jiannandao and shannanxidao, Nanchong County of jiannandao and Guozhou of shannanxidao.
During the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms, Xichong was subordinate to the former Shu, the latter Tang and the latter Shu.
In Song Dynasty, Xichong suiguo Prefecture was successively subordinate to Xichuan Road, Chuanxia Road, Tongchuan Fu Road and Tongchuan Shunqing road.
In the first year of the central unification of the Yuan Dynasty (1260), Xichong was attached to Shaanxi and Sichuan provinces along with Shunqing Prefecture. In 1283, Liuxi county was incorporated into Xichong County as an enclave. In the 23rd year of Zhiyuan (1286), Xichong was under the jurisdiction of Shunqing Road, Zhongshu Province, Sichuan Province.
In the ninth year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty (1376), Xichong was attached to Sichuan Province along with Shunqing government, and announced the political envoy department. In 1377, Xichong was withdrawn to Nanchong. In 1380, Nanchong was set up in Xichong, and Liuxi county was left in Nanchong.
In the Qing Dynasty, Xichong County was subordinate to Shunqing Prefecture of Sichuan Province.
In the Republic of China, Xichong was successively subordinate to Shunqing Prefecture, North Sichuan Road, and the 11th administrative supervision district of Sichuan Province.
On October 1, 1949, the people's Republic of China was founded.
On December 14, 1949, Xichong was peacefully liberated.

In September 1953, some villages in Zhegong township of Yanting County and Zhonghe township of Nanchong county were included in Xichong County, and some villages in Nanchong, Yanting and the South were included in Xichong County. In March 1955, the Sixth District (occupied mountainous area) was abolished, and the seventh district (Duofu District) was withdrawn in December, and 41 townships were merged.
