Tiedong District Tiedong District is one of the urban districts of Anshan City. It is located in the middle of Liaoning Province. It gets its name because it is to the east of the long railway. It is the political, economic and cultural center of Anshan City. In the East, it borders on Lishan district (Anshan hi tech Zone) with the east mountain of "219" park. In the west, it borders on Tiexi District and Anshan Iron and steel plant area with long distance railway. In the south, it borders on Qianshan District with Huanshi railway in the East. In the North, it borders on Lishan district with Tongshan street. In 2015, the total area was 72.4 square kilometers, under 15 sub district offices, 90 communities, 9 administrative villages, and 592 thousand permanent residents (524 thousand registered residence population and 68 thousand mobile population).
The world table tennis champions Guo Yue, Ma Long and Li Xiaoxia, and the world badminton champions Yu Yang and Du Jing all came out of the district.
In December 2018, it was confirmed by the Ministry of civil affairs as the third batch of national community governance and service innovation experimental zones.
Historical evolution
Tiedong District was built later and got its name because it is located to the east of Shenyang Dalian railway.
In 1379 (the 12th year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty), Anshan post was set up, and Changdian shop (later called changdianpu) was set up in the north of the post.
In 1653 (the 10th year of Shunzhi reign of Qing Dynasty), Liaoyang Prefecture was established in Qing Dynasty (later changed to Fengtian prefecture), which governs Liaoyang Prefecture.
After 1912, the early Republic of China was under the jurisdiction of Liaoyang County.
In October 1921, Liaoyang County was established as a district. Changdian, Dashitou and baguagou villages in the district were under the jurisdiction of the Sixth District of Liaoyang County.
After the fall of Northeast China, Anshan City was established on December 1, 1937 (26 years of the Republic of China). Changdian, Dashitou and baguagou villages under the jurisdiction of the Sixth District of Liaoyang County were under the jurisdiction of Anshan City.
On June 1, 1940, the puppet Anshan Municipal Office divided the whole city into 25 districts. There were 11 districts in Tiedong District, including "Dazheng", "Fuji", "Qianjian", "Dagong", "Dahe", "Chaori", "Ju", "chuyin", "Shu", "Yinyu" and "Changda".
After the victory of "93" in 1945, Anshan Municipal democratic government decided in November to set up Tiedong District in the southern urban area to the east of Changda railway.
In June 1946, after the Kuomintang government occupied Anshan, there were 11 districts in Anshan, including Datong, Xinghua, peace, justice, culture, Rixin, Yongping, Guangfu, Tiedong and Changdian.
In 1953, Han tombs and pottery were found underground in the northwest of changdianpu. In June 1954, pottery figurines, ceramic tiles, red burnt clay and other cultural relics were found near the site. According to research, before the Han Dynasty, there were people working here.
In 1997, Tiedong District covers an area of 13.8 square kilometers and has 12 streets: Shengli Street, Changdian street, Jiefang street, Shannan Street, Yuanyuan street, Zhanqian street, Gangcheng street, Heping Street, duilu street, dongchangdian street, Hunan Street and Changqing street. The district government is located in Shengli Street.
In 1998, Tiedong District People's government set up 12 streets and 293 communities.
In 2002, Yingchengzi village, Gaoguanling village in Dagushan town of Qianshan District and housanjiayu village in Donganshan town were divided into Tiedong District and Xinxing street was established; the eastern area of Anshan high tech Industrial Development Zone was divided into Tiedong District from Qianshan District.

The terrain of Tiedong District is high in the East and low in the west, with a gradient of 13.6 ‰. The terrain is generally divided into two parts. In the East is the "219" park. The terrain is uneven, and the mountain trend is northeast southwest. It belongs to the southwest extension of Qianshan Mountain range. Generally, the altitude is between 100-150 meters, and the highest is 193.2 meters. There is a ridge on both sides, conically wedged into the urban area, with the trend of "Ten Mile green hills half into the city".
There is a mountain in the north and south of the District, which seems to rise from the flat land. In the south is Lietu mountain, with an altitude of 97.4 meters, which is the highest point in the urban area. In the north, there is duilu mountain, 71.9 meters above sea level.
Climatic characteristics
Tiedong District is a warm temperate continental monsoon climate zone, with southerly winds in summer and northerly winds in winter. In summer, due to the invasion of tropical ocean air mass, there is abundant rain and high temperature. In winter, polar continental air mass prevails, with less precipitation and low temperature. The main climatic characteristics are: four distinct seasons, the same period of rain and heat, the same season of dry and cold, abundant precipitation, suitable temperature, rich light, heavy rain, hail, cold wave, drought, flood, frost and other disastrous weather in different years and seasons have varying degrees of occurrence.
Hydrological condition
Shanmen river originates from laohudonggou, Gudong village, Shanmen Town, Tiedong District, with a length of 35 km and a drainage area of 89.2 km2. Its tributaries include Longwang River and Chongwang river. They are all injected into Shanmen reservoir.

In 2014, the reserves of iron ore and talc in Tiedong District reached 10 billion tons and 60 million tons respectively, accounting for one fourth and two fifths of the country. In particular, magnesite reserves reached 2.3 billion tons, accounting for one fourth of the world, the world's largest.
