Xintian County Xintian County is a county under the jurisdiction of Yongzhou City, Hunan Province. It is a national health county, a civilized county in Hunan Province and a garden County in Hunan Province. It is located in the south of Hunan Province and the east of Yongzhou City, adjacent to Guiyang County of Chenzhou City in the East, Jiahe County of Chenzhou City in the south, Ningyuan County in the west, Qiyang County and Changning City of Hengyang City in the north. The geographical coordinates are 112 ° 02 '- 23' e and 25 ° 40 '- 26 ° 06' n.
Xintian County covers an area of 1022.4 square kilometers, governs 11 towns and 1 township (2015), with a total population of 450500 (2018). In 2018, the county's GDP was 8605.11 million yuan, up 8.0% year on year. Among them, the added value of the primary industry was 1738.74 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 3.7%; the added value of the secondary industry was 2395.49 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 8.2%; the added value of the tertiary industry was 4470.88 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9.7%. According to the resident population, the per capita GDP was 24942 yuan, up 10.3% year on year.
At the end of the 1960s, Xintian people won the high praise of "Xintian in the South" by Mao Zedong, a great man of a generation, for their great deeds of running water conservancy and changing the world. There are evangelical Mountain National Forest Park, Gudong Shiyang, southern Wudang Mountain, daguanling castle, Ejing and other scenic spots, Longjia courtyard, pengzicheng, tanwenxi and other ancient dwellings, and more than 2400 years of ginkgo trees. There are 54 sites of Shang, Zhou, song, Ming and Qing Dynasties found in Xintian County, the Shang Dynasty site and Confucian temple in Longquan Mountain, the tablet inscription of Pingding Zhungeer written by Emperor Qianlong of Qing Dynasty, Qingyun tower, etc.
On February 29, 2020, the people's Government of Hunan Province agreed to withdraw Xintian County from poverty-stricken counties. On January 29, 2021, it was selected into the list of areas with remarkable achievements in real work in 2020 announced by Hunan Provincial People's government.
Evolution of organizational system
Xintian used to be a military garrison, named xintianbao, also known as xintianying.
During the spring and Autumn period and the Warring States period, it belonged to Chu.
From Qin Dynasty to the beginning of Han Dynasty, it belonged to Changsha County.
The Western Han Dynasty and the Eastern Han Dynasty belonged to Lingdao, yingdao and Chongling county respectively.
During the Three Kingdoms, Wei, Jin and southern and Northern Dynasties, it belonged to Lingdao and Chongling counties.
In the ninth year of kaihuang (589), lengdao and Chongling counties were abandoned and merged into yingdao county.
In the second year of Dali in the Tang Dynasty (767), the northwest County of Yantang county was set up as Dali County, and Xintian County belonged to it.

In the second year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1571), xintianying was set up to prevent the rebellion of the northern Yao people in the Far East of Ningxia.
In the 12th year of Chongzhen (1639) of Ming Dynasty, the county was divided into two townships in the north and the south of Ningyuan, with xintianying as the governing seat. Because of the name of the county, it belongs to Yongzhou Prefecture.
The city was built in 1667.
In the 25th year of the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty (1686), some areas of Ningyuan and Guiyang were divided into Xintian.
In 1938, it was the seventh administrative supervision district.
On October 10, 1949, Xintian was liberated, belonging to Yongzhou special area.
In 1952, it belonged to southern Hunan administrative region.
In July 1954, the southern Hunan administrative office was abolished and divided into Hengyang district and Chenzhou district.
In March 1959, Xintian and Guiyang merged into Guiyang County, belonging to Chenzhou district.
In July 1961, Xintian County was restored to Chenzhou.
In December 1962, Xintian County was designated as Lingling district.
In 1968, Lingling area was changed to Lingling area.
On November 22, 1984, Lingling District, Yongzhou City at county level and Lengshuitan city at county level were abolished and Yongzhou City at prefecture level was established. Xintian County belongs to Yongzhou City.

In December 1980, the people's commune of Chengguan was abolished and the people's Government of Chengguan town was restored.
In March 1981, Hongwei commune was renamed Tianjia commune, Lixin commune was renamed maojia commune, Qianjin commune was renamed jinpenwei commune, Xinwei commune was renamed xiacaodong commune, Yuejin commune was renamed zhishiping commune.
In June 1982, menlouxia commune was renamed menlouxia Yao commune.
In April 1983, the county Party committee and the county people's government set up a pilot project in Shizi commune to abolish the commune and establish Shizi township.
In April 1984, the rural people's commune of Xintian County was abolished, the township system was restored, and the Township People's government was established. The county has jurisdiction over one town and 20 townships.
In January 1987, Jicun Township and xiacaodong Township were abolished and Jicun town and xiacaodong town were established.
In May 1993, eight administrative villages including Tiantou, Qingshuiwan, Zhangjiawan, Shatian, ledawan, shankoudong, Shijia and liaozhaiwan were set up from Shiyang Township, and hongfawei office was set up. Six administrative villages including Dongxin, Tangjia, pinglejiao, Dashanpu, Luowan and Longtan were set up from Jiantou Township, and Dongxin office was set up. All of them are township level units with independent accounting.
In September 1994, Jinling township was abolished and Jinling town was established. In December of the same year, xiacaodong town was renamed Xinxu town.
On August 28, 1995, Chengguan Town, Chengdong Township and Tianxiang Township were abolished and Longquan town was established.
In October 1995, Shiyang, Jiantou and Xinlong townships were abolished and Shiyang, Jiantou and Xinlong towns were established.
In April 2000, the former Chengdong Township and Tianxiang Township were separated from Longquan town and set up Chengdong and Tianjia offices, which are township level units with independent accounting. The jurisdiction of Longquan Town, Chengdong office and Tianjia office was redefined.

In July 2007, Xintian County set up 7 towns, 13 townships, 375 administrative villages, 12 communities, and Longquan town was the seat of the government.
In 2014, Xintian County abolished Shizi Township and established Shizi town (xiangminxingfa No. 6); dapingtang township was abolished and dapingtang town was established. After the adjustment, Xintian County governs 9 towns and 10 townships (including 1 ethnic township): Longquan Town, Jinling Town, Jicun Town, Jiantou Town, Xinwei Town, Shiyang Town, Xinlong Town, Shizi Town, dapingtang Town, Lianhua Town, Lengshuijing Town, menlouxia Yao Township, Mao Township, Maoli Township, jinpenwei Township, Sanjing Township, Taoling Township, Gaoshan Township and zhishiping township.
On November 20, 2015, the Provincial Department of Civil Affairs (xiangminxingfa No. 54) approved the abolition of the organizational system of seven townships in Xintian County, namely, Shizi, Lianhua, Lengshuijing, maojia, Maoli, Gaoshan and zhishiping; the adjustment of some administrative divisions of seven towns, namely, Longquan, Jinling, Jicun, Jiantou, Xinwei, Xinlong and dapingtang, and two townships, namely, Sanjing and Taoling, and the removal of three townships, namely, Sanjing, Taoling and jinpenwei.
