Dongfeng District, belonging to Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province, is located in the southwest of Jiamusi City and the east of Jiamusi city. It is adjacent to Huachuan County in the East, suburbs in the south, Anqing street in the west, Qianjin district and Songhua River in the north.
With a total area of 190.8 square kilometers, Dongfeng District governs 23 communities, 1 Township, 1 town and 20 administrative villages, with a population of 165000 (2010).

Historical evolution
Before the founding of new China, Dongfeng district was commonly known as "mengguli", belonging to Futian District of Huachuan County. According to textual research, the name was formed in 1914, when there were Mongolian and Hezhe people living in this place, who mainly engaged in fishing and hunting. Due to the disputes over the land boundary, the government of Huachuan County assigned the place to the Mongols, commonly known as "mengguli".
On December 1, 1937, Jiamusi town was changed into a system under the direct control of Sanjiang province of Manchukuo.
In 1938, Jiamusi implemented a new administrative region, and Dongfeng district was under the jurisdiction of Shuixiang district.
On August 15, 1945, Jiamusi was liberated. On December 25, 1945, Jiamusi municipal government was established. In 1946, the municipal government strengthened the construction of grass-roots political power and implemented the district (township) system. In 1948, Dongfeng District belonged to the third district.
After the founding of the people's Republic of China, the government was changed into a district office in June 1955, and Dongfeng district is the third district office.
In 1956, three district offices were abolished and eight sub district offices were set up in Dexiang, Yongtai, Jiaxi, Xilin, Baowei, Xiaoyun, Yong'an and Jiadong. Dongfeng district belongs to Jiadong sub district office.
On January 15, 1958, Jiamusi municipal government carried out the adjustment of urban division, abolished the sub district offices, and re established the three municipal districts and suburbs of Chang'an, Jiaxi and Heping. Dongfeng district belongs to Heping District.
In the autumn of 1958, the district system was abolished and the people's commune was established in the urban area. Dongfeng District People's commune was established on November 12, and Dongfeng district belongs to Dongfeng people's commune. In December 1959, Dongfeng people's commune was renamed Jiadong people's commune.
On April 28, 1968, Jiamusi Revolutionary Committee decided to merge Heping and Jiadong people's commune into Dongfeng district. On September 10, the reform committee of Hejiang district decided to abolish Dongfeng district and divide it into Dongfeng people's commune.
On September 18, 1969, the reform committee of Hejiang district decided to merge the original eight people's communes in Jiamusi into four people's communes: Dongfeng, Qianjin, Xiangyang and Yonghong.
On October 28, 1972, the Revolutionary Committee of Dongfeng commune of Jiamusi city was renamed as the Revolutionary Committee of Dongfeng District of Jiamusi City, which was established at the county level.
On September 11, 1980, the Revolutionary Committee of Dongfeng district was renamed the people's Government of Dongfeng District, Jiamusi city.
