Erqi District Erqi District is one of the central urban areas of Zhengzhou City, Henan Province. It is located between 113 ° 30 ′~ 113 ° 41 ′ E and 34 ° 36 ′~ 34 ° 46 ′ n. Erqi District was founded in October 1948. In order to commemorate the "Beijing Han railway workers' strike" which broke out on February 7, 1923, it was renamed Erqi District in 1955. It is the only city in the country named for commemorating major revolutionary events. Beijing Guangzhou and Longhai railway arteries meet in Erqi District. Zhengzhou railway station, the largest railway hub in China, and Zhengzhou passenger transport center, the largest bus passenger station in Henan Province are located in the area. Zheng Shao Expressway, Zheng Yao Expressway and Southwest Ring Expressway pass through the city. The city is only 30 minutes' drive away from Xinzheng International Airport.

In the second year of the Republic of China (1913), Zhengzhou abandoned the state and set up a county. Zhengzhou was called Zheng county. Zheng county was divided into seven districts: Chengxiang District, Renhe District, Yongkang District, Renqin District, Xuanping District, Changle district and Ding'an district. Among them, part of Chengxiang District, most of Yongkang District, and part of Renhe district and Renqin District belonged to Erqi District. This district is a part of the first district (i.e. a part of the West Street) and most of the second district; in 1941, the district was abolished as a town, and Zhengzhou city was changed into 14 townships and towns. The main rivers in Erqi District are Jialu River, Jiayu River, Jinshui River and Xiong'er river.
The Jialu River evolved from the ancient chasm and bianshui. In the 11th year of Zhizheng reign of Yuan Dynasty (1351), Jialu, Minister of the Ministry of industry, presided over dredging the river. Jialu river has more upper sources, mostly in the northern valley of Mi County, with two main tributaries.
Jiayu River, the West Branch, is called "Jingshui" (Kong River) in ancient times. It originates from changligou, Nanwan, Yuanzhuang Township, Xinmi City. It enters Xingyang, flows eastward through Zhanghe village, and enters Changzhuang reservoir through Kong River, Mazhai, Wanliu and Changmiao. The total length of the territory is 10.5 kilometers, and the drainage area is 14.6 square kilometers. It flows to Xiliu Lake and flows into Jialu river.
The East Branch has two sources: the west one comes from shengshuiyu village of yangshugang, Baizhai Township, Xinmi City, and flows into Jiangang reservoir from huibingquan and Nuanquan of Liyuan river through Shenhe and Shuimo; the east one comes from Daijiagang jiuniangniangmiao spring of daluxi village, Houzhai Township, and flows into Jiangang reservoir through chending, xialihe and xiaomiaozui.
Jinshui River originates from the junction of Erqi District and Xinzheng City. It flows through guojiazui of Houzhai Township, Liuzhai of Qiliyan Township and Huanggang temple into the urban area. It flows through Yanzhuang and balimiao of Jinshui District and into Dongfeng canal. The river is 16 kilometers long and the drainage area is 45 square kilometers.
Xiong'er river originates from tiesanguanmiao village, Houzhai Township, Erqi District. It flows into the urban area through Jinghu, wanghuzhai, Fengzhuang and panzhanghui integrated river, from top to bottom through qiyisan Research Institute, and then flows into Dongfengqu through Jicheng. The drainage area is 22.78 square kilometers.
