On June 14, 1891, the cabinet of the Qing Dynasty issued an edict that it would set up a defense in Jiaozhou Bay and build it in Qingdao. With the establishment of Qingdao, Shibei District has its foundation and conditions. The first five villages in Shibei District are dabaodao village, xiaobaodao village, mengjiagou village, Yangjia village and broom Beach village. In 1900, during the period of German occupation of jiaoao, the German authorities divided the concession into inner and outer areas. Dabao Island, Xiaobao Island, mengjiagou, Yangjiacun, Taidong Town, broom beach and so on belong to the inner boundary of Qingdao. In 1901, Taidong town began to take shape.
In 1914, when Japan occupied Qingdao for the first time, it divided the occupied area into Qingdao district and Licun district. At that time, Shibei District belonged to Qingdao district.
In 1922, after the Beiyang government took over jiaoao, Qingdao was divided into three parts: Qingdao street, Taidong town and Taixi town. Shibei District belongs to Qingdao city street. In the same year, Taidong town was changed into Taidong District, and Taidong district was officially established.
In 1929, when the Nanjing government first ruled Qingdao, Qingdao was divided into six districts, Shibei District was the second district and Taidong district was the fourth.
In 1945, before the surrender of Japan, Qingdao was divided into seven districts and three administrative offices. Shibei District and Taidong town are both directly under the central government.
On March 17, 1946, the Kuomintang Qingdao municipal government divided the whole city into 12 districts. Among the four districts, the name "Shibei District" was officially used, which should be at the beginning of the establishment of Shibei District.

geographical environment
Location context
Shibei District is one of the main urban districts of Qingdao. It is located in the south of the central part of Qingdao, adjacent to Jiaozhou Bay in the west, Laoshan District in the East, Licang District in the north and Shinan District in the south. The maximum distance between East and West is 11.5 km, the maximum distance between North and south is 9.9 km, the coastline is 17.83 km, and the total area is 65.4 square km.
geology
The rock types in Shibei District are mainly intrusive rocks in magmatic rocks, which formed in Mesozoic era. Most of them are granites in the late Yanshanian period of Mesozoic, and a small amount of neutral dikes occur. The area of intrusive rock accounts for more than 90% of the whole area. According to the latest 1:50000 regional geological survey data, the late Yanshanian granite in Qingdao area is classified as Laoshan super unit, with 11 rock types belonging to 11 units. There are 5 granitoid units and 8 types of dikes in Shibei District.
The inner layer of Shibei District is very undeveloped, and only the Quaternary Holocene Piedmont formation alluvium and diluvium are sporadically distributed. According to the division of plate tectonics, the tectonic position of Qingdao city is located on the Sino Korean block, Jiaoliao uplift fold belt and the southeast small uplift of Jiaolai basin. Shibei District is located on the east side of Jiaozhou Bay in the west of Xiaoyang uplift.
The earliest geological event observed in Shibei District is the Cretaceous magmatic activity of Mesozoic, which has entered the intraplate movement stage after the North China plate and Yangzi plate combined into a whole.
topographic features
The modern geomorphology of Shibei District is formed by various internal and external forces in the long history of geological development, and the most violent period of geological evolution is Mesozoic. In the late Yanshanian period, the fault activity reached its peak in geological history, and the magmatic activity was intense, forming a modern tectonic pattern and geomorphic form. The neotectonic movement shows that the crust is slowly uplifted and in the state of denudation. In addition to the influence of surface water system, the erosion and denudation hills are widely distributed in the area.
Hills are the main geomorphic type in Shibei District, with a wide distribution area. The terrain is uneven, high in the East and low in the West. Among them, the hills about 100-200 meters above sea level are more common, which are characterized by undulating and gentle broad valley and gentle hills. In the low hilly region, due to the development of Quaternary eluvial and Deluvial deposits, gullies and other micro landforms are relatively developed at the altitude of 30-50m (such as the area from hongshanpo to fushanhou). The soil quality of the upper part of the hill is poor, and it is denuded weathered soil, and the middle and lower part is bedrock or alluvial soil.
soil
There are three types of soil in Shibei District, i.e. brown soil, cinnamon soil and saline soil. The distribution of these three types of soil is different in the region. Brown soil is mainly distributed in hills and gentle slopes in front of mountains; cinnamon soil is mainly distributed in the upper part of denuded residual hills; saline soil is mainly distributed in coastal areas.
climate
Shibei District is a temperate monsoon climate zone, with humid air, moderate precipitation, hot and rainy season, and pleasant climate. Affected by the monsoon and the ocean, the seasonal changes are very obvious. In the summer half year (April September), the southeast monsoon blows from the sea, which is directly regulated and influenced by the marine environment, making the air in Qingdao humid, abundant rainfall, small daily temperature range, no high temperature and heat, with obvious marine climate characteristics; in the winter half year (October to next March), the monsoon blows from Eurasia, and Qingdao is under the control of cold and high pressure air mass, with dry climate, The low temperature fully shows the characteristics of continental climate.
