In the sixth year of emperor Gaozu (201 BC) of the Western Han Dynasty, Beiping county was established as Zhongshan County.

In the third year of emperor Jingdi of Han Dynasty (154 BC), the county was changed into a state, belonging to Zhongshan state.

In the first year of Taihe in the Northern Wei Dynasty (477), Yongning County was set up in the eastern part of the county, belonging to Gaoyang County of Yingzhou. Beiping county belongs to Zhongshan state of Jizhou. In 540, Yongle County was located in the northwest of the county.

In 2002, Mancheng County had jurisdiction over four towns, eight townships, one community and 204 administrative villages. The county government is stationed all over the town.

On November 12, 2010, fangshunqiao township was officially withdrawn from the township and built into a town.. After the adjustment, the county governs 1 Street, 5 towns and 7 townships.

On December 31, 2020, Yujiazhuang township was abolished and established in Jiazhuang town.
