Yicheng District is located in the south of Zaozhuang City, Shandong Province. It is the South Gate of Shandong Province. It is close to Xuzhou City, and is located in the center of Huaihai economic zone.
Yicheng District, formerly known as Yi County, is the birthplace of Zaozhuang City. For more than 4000 years since the Xia Dynasty, it has been the seat of the prefecture and county. The main tourist attractions are Guanshi Liuyuan, Sanjin academy, Kuang Heng tomb, Xianren cave, etc. There are more than 5.3 million pomegranate trees and 48 varieties in Guanshi pomegranate garden, which is the largest pomegranate garden in China. Yicheng is the administrative office of the old Yi county. The name of Yi comes from Gannan Geyi mountain (commonly known as Tianzhu Mountain). On the one hand, because of its mountainous environment, the mountains are connected to each other to form Yi and Yi.

In the Xia Dynasty, the state of Zhu was established in the territory. Since then, for more than 4000 years, it has been the seat of prefectures and counties.
During the Warring States period, she belonged to the state of Chu Lanling.

In the Western Han Dynasty, in the fifth year of Yuanfeng (106 BC), Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty set up 13 prefectures of Cishi in the whole country, belonging to Donghai County of Xuzhou. In Shiyi, there were Chengxian, Yinping, Jianyang, duyang, Fuyang and other counties.
In the first year of Yuankang (291) in the Western Jin Dynasty, Emperor Hui of the Jin Dynasty set up Lanling County, which belongs to Xuzhou and has jurisdiction over Lanling, Cheng, Qi, Hexiang and Changwu counties. Its governing place is now Yicheng.
The Sixteen States of the Eastern Jin Dynasty were successively governed by the later Zhao, the former Yan and the former Qin, all belonging to Lanling county.
In the Southern Song Dynasty, Donghai County was in the southeast, and Lanling county was in the northwest. At that time, the rule of Lanling County moved to Changwu (now Tengzhou).
In the Northern Wei Dynasty, it was Chengxian County of Xuzhou.
In the Northern Qi Dynasty, Lanling county was set up to govern Yicheng.
In the Sui Dynasty, it belonged to Pengcheng county. In the third year of kaihuang (583), Cheng County belonged to Xuzhou. In the 16th year of kaihuang (596), Cheng county was changed to zhazhou. In the second year of Daye (606), zhazhou was abolished and changed to Lanling county.
In the early Tang Dynasty, it was renamed Chengxian County, belonging to daoyizhou, Henan Province. In the fourth year of Wude (621), zazhou was reestablished and Chengxian was governed, with Chengxian, Lanling and Zacheng under its jurisdiction.
Jinxingdingzhong (1217-1222) established Yizhou.
In the Yuan Dynasty, Yidu road of Zhongshu province was located in Yizhou, and it led to Lanling county.
In the Ming Dynasty, Hongwu was demoted to a county in 1369. In 1385, Yi county was transferred to Yanzhou Prefecture.
In the Qing Dynasty, it still belonged to Yanzhou Prefecture of Shandong Province.
