Yantian District, Yantian District, Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province, is located in the east of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone, 12 kilometers away from the city center, Luohu District of Shenzhen City in the west, Dapeng New District in the East, Longgang District and Pingshan District in the north, Shanshui of Hong Kong New Territories in the south, and Shatoujiao port is directly connected with Hong Kong. The area is surrounded by mountains and sea, the north is Wutong Mountain and Meisha point, and the south is Dapeng Bay. It covers an area of 74.99 square kilometers. As of 2019, Yantian District has jurisdiction over four streets with a total population of 243600.
Yantian area has a long history. The archaeological excavation of Dameisha bay sand dune site shows that human beings lived here in the Neolithic age. Four or five thousand years ago, that is, during the Xia and Shang Dynasties in the Central Plains, this place was inhabited by Baiyue tribes. In 214 BC, Qin Shihuang unified China and set up Nanhai, Guilin and Xiang counties in Lingnan area. Yantian area belongs to Panyu County of Nanhai County, which has a long history and is one of the top ten municipal districts in Shenzhen.
Yantian District is surrounded by mountains, sea and coast. There are natural beaches such as Dameisha and Xiaomeisha. The Wutong Mountain is majestic and steep. There are many kinds of migratory birds on the mountain. It is a famous tourist attraction in Shenzhen. The birds in the three continents are very quiet.
In 2019, Yantian District's GDP will reach 65.648 billion yuan, an increase of 8.2% over the previous year. Among them, the added value of the primary industry was 27 million yuan, an increase of 18.5%; the added value of the secondary industry was 8.339 billion yuan, an increase of 2.2%; the added value of the tertiary industry was 57.282 billion yuan, an increase of 9.2%.
History of construction
The place name of Yantian is related to the salt production in ancient times. According to Baoan county annals, Guanfu salt farm was set up in the fourth year of Kaibao of Song Dynasty (971), including Yantian and diefu salt farm in today's Kowloon, Hong Kong. The annals of Xin'an County compiled in the reign of Emperor Kangxi of Qing Dynasty has the names of yantianwei, yantiancun and yantianjing.
In Xia, Shang and Zhou dynasties, the territory of Yantian District was Baiyue.
In the 33rd year of Qin Shihuang (214 BC), Qin Shihuang unified China and established Nanhai, Guilin and Xiangjun counties in Lingnan area. Yantian area belongs to Panyu County of Nanhai county.
In the sixth year of Xianhe in the Eastern Jin Dynasty (331), the imperial court withdrew Nanhai county and set up Dongguan county. It has jurisdiction over Baoan, Xingning, Haifeng and other six counties. It covers the Pearl River Delta, Huizhou and Chaozhou. At that time, Baoan county was under the jurisdiction of Dongguan City, Shenzhen City and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Dongguan county is located in the south of Bao'an county. Part of Yantian area belongs to Bao'an County, while Sanzhoutian, Pingshan, Henggang and Longgang belong to Huiyang county.
In 590, the imperial court abolished Dongguan County, and Bao'an county was changed to Nanhai county. The county government was located in Nantou.
In 757, Baoan county was renamed Dongguan county.
In the first year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1573), Dongguan county was removed and Xin'an County (formerly Bao'an county) was established.
In 1666, Xin'an moved to Dongguan county.
In 1669, Xin'an County was restored. Under the county, there are three townships and seven cities. Yantian area is the seventh capital of urban and rural areas. The Qing Dynasty was under the jurisdiction of Fu Si in Xin'an County.
In the third year of the Republic of China (1914), the national administrative division was reorganized. Because Xin'an County has the same name as Xin'an County in Henan Province, it is also called Bao'an county.
From 1924 to 1932, there were two small townships, Shatoujiao and Yantian.
In 1933, it was changed into a township called Donghe township. This is the first unified organizational setup of Yantian region.
In October 1949, Shayan Meiyi belt was taken over by Huiyang county.
In April 1950, it returned to Bao'an county and became a township under the jurisdiction of the third district.
In October 1958, the people's commune was established as "the unity of government and society". The area was once Nantianmen commune (under the jurisdiction of Shenzhen). In November, Longgang, Henggang, Pingshan and Dapeng were transferred from Huiyang county to Bao'an county.
In 1959, it was organized as Sanzhoutian commune, subordinate to Pingshan and included in Yantian area. Afterwards, sometimes a town and a commune were set up in the region, and sometimes they were combined into a commune.
In January 1979, Baoan county was changed into Shenzhen City, and Yantian District belongs to Luohu District.
In June 1980, it was separated from Pingshan and established Shatoujiao management area. In August, the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone was established, and Yantian area was included in the scope of the special economic zone except for some mountainous areas such as Sanzhoutian.
In October 1981, Bao'an county was restored and administered outside the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone.
In January 1982, Luohu District was established, which governs the whole scope of the special economic zone. Yantian District is under the jurisdiction of Luohu District.
In September 1982, Shatoujiao town was designated from Luohu District as a county-level town.
In June 1983, the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone set up four district offices, namely, Luohu, Shangbu, Nantou and Shatoujiao.
In May 1984, Sha Tau Kok District Office was changed into Sha Tau Kok Management District, which is still the agency of the municipal government.
In January 1990, the five administrative districts of Luohu, Futian (formerly Shangbu), Nantou, Shekou and Shatoujiao were abolished and three municipal districts of Luohu, Futian and Nanshan were established. Shatoujiao management area and Luohu management area are merged to form Luohu District People's government.
On November 7, 1997, the State Council approved the establishment of Yantian District from Luohu District, which is one of the six administrative districts under the jurisdiction of Shenzhen.
On February 16, 1998, Yantian District Committee and government were established. On March 30, Yantian District held the unveiling ceremony.
