Chongyi County, Chongyi County, was established in the winter of the 12th year of Zhengde in the Ming Dynasty (1517), which was named by Wang Yangming with the meaning of "advocating etiquette and righteousness". It is located in the southwest edge of Jiangxi Province, the source of Zhangjiang River, the border between Jiangxi and Hunan, and the east foot of Luoxiao mountain range. It is subordinate to Ganzhou City, with a total area of 2206.27 square kilometers, and has jurisdiction over 6 towns and 10 townships.
Chongyi county has been successively rated as the national key forestry county, the national mountain comprehensive development demonstration county, the national greening model county, the national forestry classified management pilot county, the national cultural work advanced county, the national villager autonomy model county, the national population and family planning work advanced county, and China's charming County.
In 2019, the total household number of the registered residence in the county was 64285, the total household population was 216501, and the total GDP reached 8 billion 457 million yuan, and the registered residence increased by 8.2% at comparable prices.
On June 30, 2020, it will be included in the list of counties in the second batch of revolutionary cultural relics protection and utilization areas. On July 29, 2020, it will be included in the list of national health towns (counties) to be reconfirmed in 2019.

During the spring and Autumn period and the Warring States period, Chongyi belonged to the state of Chu.
Qin Shihuang 26 years (221 BC) to create county system, Chongyi is Jiujiang County South Xie.
In the first year of Jianwu (25th year) of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Jiujiang county was changed into Yuzhang County, and Nanbi county was changed into Nanye county.
In 236, Chongyi belonged to Nanye county and Nan'an county. It's a southern Duwei.
In the first year of Taikang, Emperor Wu of Jin Dynasty (280), Nanan county was changed into Nankang County, and Chongyi belonged to Nanye county and Nankang county.
In 589, Emperor Wen of the Sui Dynasty changed Nankang county to Qianzhou, and Chongyi was subordinate to Qianzhou.
In the first year of Daye (605), Emperor Yangdi changed Qianzhou to Nankang County, Ganxian to Nankang County, and Chongyi to Nankang county.
In the Tang Dynasty, Chongyi was subordinate to Nankang county.
At the end of the Five Dynasties, Chongyi belonged to Nankang County, Dayu county and Shangyou County, and belonged to Zhaoxin army.
In the first year of Chunhua (990) of Song Dynasty, Nan'an army was established, and Chongyi was subordinate to Nan'an army.
From the Yuan Dynasty to the 14th year of the Yuan Dynasty (1277), Nan'an army was changed into Nan'an road general manager's office, which was under the jurisdiction of Jiang Xixing province. In the 25th year of the Yuan Dynasty (1365), Nan'an road was changed into Nan'an office, and Chongyi was under the jurisdiction of Nan'an office.
In 1517, duyushi Wang Shouren led his troops to suppress the peasant uprising of Xie Zhishan and LAN Tianfeng in Hengshui and Tonggang. After that, he presented the emperor's reply. He analyzed the three li of Chongyi, Shangbao and Yanhu in Shangyou County, the two li of Longping and Shangde in Nankang County, and the county of yianli in Dayu county Ann house. The Qing Dynasty followed the Ming system, and Chongyi was subordinate to Nan'an Prefecture.
In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), the government was abolished. In 1914, Jiangxi Province was divided into Yuzhang, Xunyang, Luling and Gannan Dao, with 81 counties. Chongyi belongs to Gannan Dao. 15 years (1926), abandoned Road, county Zhili in the province. In 1932, Chongyi was divided into 13 administrative regions, and Chongyi was the 11th administrative region. In 1935, the province was reduced to eight administrative regions, and Chongyi was the fourth.
During the second Civil Revolutionary War, Chongyi was a part of Hunan Jiangxi Revolutionary Base. In March 1931, Chongyi County Revolutionary Committee was established. In May 1931, the Soviet government was established, which was subordinate to Jiangxi and Xianggan Soviet governments.
On August 20, 1949, Chongyi was liberated. At the same time, the people's Government of Chongyi county was set up. In September 1949, southwest Jiangxi administrative office was established. In July of the next year, it was changed into southwest Jiangxi people's administrative office, and Chongyi was subordinate to southwest Jiangxi administrative region. In June 1951, the southwest Jiangxi administrative office was abolished. The office of the Commissioner of Ganzhou district was established, and Chongyi was subordinate to Ganzhou district. In June 1954, Ganzhou District Commissioner Office was abolished and Gannan administrative office was established. Chongyi was subordinate to Gannan administrative region. In 1964, Gannan administrative office was changed to Ganzhou regional Commissioner Office. In 1968, the office of the regional Commissioner of Ganzhou was changed into the Revolutionary Committee of Ganzhou special region. In January 1971, it was renamed Ganzhou regional Revolutionary Committee. In 1978, the Ganzhou regional Revolutionary Committee was transformed into the Ganzhou regional administrative office. Chongyi is subordinate to Ganzhou. On July 1, 1999, Ganzhou was set up as a city, and Chongyi was subordinate to Ganzhou City.

In December 1982, Guting town was established. In 1984, it established townships (towns) and villages, "building townships with communities and villages with brigades". On December 10, 1988, Hengshui township was abolished and its administrative areas were put under the jurisdiction of Hengshui town. On November 23, 1989, Yangmei Township was abolished and Yangmei town was established. In May 1990, gaoshe village of Ledong township was divided into two administrative villages, gaoshe and Gaodong.
On August 18, 1994, Changlong Township, guantian Township and lead factory Township were abolished and Changlong Town, guantian Town and lead factory town were established. In 1998, the county's four neighborhood committees were adjusted to five.

The elevation of Yangling in the middle is 1259.5 meters, shiyatou in the north is 1333 meters, niuhetan in the East is 140 meters, Qiyun mountain in Zhuguang mountains in the west is 2061.3 meters, Huapi mountain in the southwest is 1581 meters, doushui reservoir in the Northeast is 170 meters. The terrain of the whole county inclines from southwest to northeast. According to the geomorphological features, the county can be roughly divided into four types: middle mountain, low mountain, high hill and valley terrace. The total land area is 47.67% in mountainous area (above 500 meters above sea level), 45.06% in high hills (300-500 meters above sea level), and 7.27% in low hills and river valley terraces (below 300 meters above sea level). There are 232 peaks over 1000 meters in the county. Among them, the Qiyun mountain in the northwest of Sishun township is 2061.3 meters above sea level, which is the highest point in the territory and also the highest mountain in southern Jiangxi.
