Historical evolution

Xuzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone was founded in July 1992.

In October 1993, it was approved as a provincial Development Zone by Jiangsu Provincial People's government.

In 2000, Gulou District established a new east ring street, which was managed by Xuzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone.

In 2005, Dahuangshan street of Jiuli District, Dahuangshan town and Damiao town of Tongshan County were under the jurisdiction of Gulou District of Xuzhou City (actually managed by Xuzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone).

In 2008, Jiangsu provincial government approved to abolish Dahuangshan town and Damiao town in Gulou District and merge them into Miaoshan town. Miaoshan town belongs to Jiawang District, but it is still managed by Xuzhou Economic Development Zone.

In March 2010, it was approved as a national economic and Technological Development Zone by the State Council.

In 2013, Jiangsu provincial government approved to abolish Jiawang Miaoshan town and set up Damiao sub district office and Dahuangshan sub district office.

In 2014, Xuzhuang town of Tongshan district was designated as a development zone.
