Historical evolution
The name of Jianping County began in 1904. It was originally under the jurisdiction of Jianchang (now Lingyuan) and Pingquan (now Pingquan County, Hebei Province). When it was established, the name of Jianping was derived from the initials of Jianchang and Pingquan. Although the address of the county was moved from Jianping to yebaishou in July 1954, it still used the name of Jianping County. There were human activities as early as the Paleolithic age.
