In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), Furong salt farm declared its independence and set up Zigong local council to exercise local administrative power. Five salt areas were set up in the east of Furong salt farm, including douyawan, DONGYUEMIAO, dafengpu and Lianggaoshan salt area. In August 1941, when Zhang Qun, chairman of Sichuan provincial government, came to Zigong, he thought that the name of daminbao was indecent, so he changed it to dawenbao.

In December 1944, the township was changed into District, the Sixth District (Dawen town), the seventh district (Lianggaoshan township), the eighth district (Dashan township) and the ninth district (Gaodong township).

In March 1950, the division of Zigong City was adjusted. The original six and seven districts were merged into the third district, the original eight district was changed into the Fourth District, and the original nine district was changed into the Sixth District. In January 1953, the democratic government was established. The third district was changed to the people's Government of dafenbao District, with its residence in wangzhuwan; the fourth district was changed to the first district office, with its residence in Dashanpu Nanhua palace. On August 5, 1955, with the approval of Sichuan Provincial People's Committee, the fifth meeting of Zigong Municipal People's Committee decided to change daminbao District into Da'an district.
