Historical evolution
The place name of Taizihe District originates from the Taizihe river, which flows through the area.
In 1980, it was set up in the suburb of Liaoyang City.
On May 10, 1984, the State Council approved that the suburb of Liaoyang city should be renamed Taizihe district. It got its name from the prince river.
In 1984, chaoguang village in Xiaoqi's hometown and Guanghui village in Taizihe Township set up Korean villagers' committees. In 1994, Xiao Qi's hometown was abolished and Qijia town was established. In 1996, Taizihe District covered an area of 150 square kilometers with a population of 100000. It governs one street, one town and four townships: Xinhua Street, Qijia Town, Taizihe Township, wangshuitai Township, dongjingling Township and dongningwei township. The district government is located in Youth Street.
In 1999, Liaoning Provincial Government approved to abolish Taizihe Township and merge its administrative villages into nearby sub district offices. Xinmin village, dalinzi village, Guanghui village, Beiyuan village, xuzhu village and hanjiahe village were included in Baita District, and Yumin village, Guoqing village, Taizihe village and Xinglong Village were included in Wensheng district.
On January 8, 2002, Liaoning Provincial Government approved the abolition of wangshuitai Township and the establishment of wangshuitai sub district office. After the adjustment, Taizihe district has jurisdiction over two streets, one town and two townships: Xinhua Street, wangshuitai street, Qijia Town, dongjingling Township and dongningwei township. Some administrative areas of Qijia town will be managed by Liaoyang economic development zone.
In 2004, Liaoning Provincial Government approved that the neighborhood committee of bakeshu community (with an area of 0.42 square kilometers) of Xinhua sub district office of Taizihe district should be assigned to Guanghua sub district office of Hongwei District. After the adjustment, the area of Taizihe district is 147.58 square kilometers, and the area of Hongwei District is 59.06 square kilometers.
On October 18, 2009, Liaoning provincial government agreed to put Jieguan village, gaoyingqiang village, zhangtaizi Town, Dengta city and Jianshanzi village, Luodatai town under the jurisdiction of dongjingling Township, Taizihe district. After the adjustment, Taizihe district has an administrative area of 165.6 square kilometers (including 64.52 square kilometers of dongjingling township), which governs two streets, one town and two townships: Xinhua Street, wangshuitai street, Qijia Town, dongjingling Township and dongningwei township. The district government is located at 57 Youth Street, Xinhua street.
At the end of 2011, Xinhua street was classified as Baita District, dongjingling township as Wensheng District, Shaling town in Liaoyang County, Wangjia town in Dengta City, Tiexi street in Baita District (excluding Shuguang Road area of Xinmin community and Xiaobao community). After the adjustment, the area of Taizihe district increased from 165 square kilometers to 273 square kilometers.
