Historical evolution
The origin of place names
"Haibowan" is derived from the Mongolian Tibetan language "Hai Ruo Bu Dao Hai", which means "Bay of lions". The magic name comes from a magic legend. It is said that in the time of Genghis Khan, there was a famous blacksmith named yole daorima who once made bows, arrows and armor for Genghis Khan's western expedition on Zhuozishan. After Genghis Khan won, he gave the fertile land of Zhuozishan to the blacksmith. The blacksmith had a son named Hai ruobu, who was as brave and valiant as a lion. Over time, Mongolian herdsmen called his grassland by his name, so the magical name of "Hai Ruo Bu Dao Hai" came into being.
Haibowan district has a long history. As early as the Xia and Shang Dynasties, it was the place where the northern nationalities flourished.
In the spring and Autumn period, it was the pasturing land of Baizhai (the tribe of Yuyu). During the Warring States period, it belonged to Linhu pastoral area.
After Qin conquered the six states and unified the Central Plains, China was divided into 36 counties, and Haibowan district was subordinate to Beidi county. In the long years since then, Haibowan district has become a place for Mongolian, Han, Hui, Manchu and other 20 Ethnic activities. After the middle of Ming Dynasty, Haibowan area was a nomadic area in Ordos, and continued to the period of the Republic of China.
In 1949, after the founding of new China, Haibowan area was subordinate to Etuoke Banner.
In 1955, it separated out from Etuoke Banner and became an independent area, which was successively called Zhuozishan mining area and Haibowan City, all under the jurisdiction of YIKEZHAO League,
