Xinluo District Xinluo District, under the jurisdiction of Longyan City, Fujian Province, is located in the southwest of Fujian Province. Xinluo county was built in the third year of Yonghe (138), and Longyan county was renamed in the first year of Tianbao (742). In 1981, the county was changed into a city, and in 1997, Xinluo District was established. Xinluo District covers an area of 2678 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over 7 streets and 13 towns. The permanent population is 734000. The registered residence population is 534 thousand. Xinluo District is an important hub connecting the coast and expanding hinterland of Fujian, Guangdong and Jiangxi. It is an important coastal city of the Economic Zone on the west side of the Straits. It is an old revolutionary base and an emerging industrial city. It is an important forest area and mining area in Fujian. It is one of the four major kaolin mining areas in China. It is also one of the main flue-cured tobacco production areas and citrus production bases in Fujian.
Xinluo District is the fusion place of Heluo culture and Hakka culture, with rich folk culture. There are Chinese folk song "Longyan tea lantern" collected by UNESCO, excellent national cultural heritage Longyan folk song and Longyan jingban, as well as Dongxiao cultural temple fair, Jiangshan Guogong Cultural Festival and Yulan basin festival with local characteristics.
There are more than 20 ancient buildings in Xinluo District. Tiangongshan temple is one of the famous Buddhist buildings in southwest Fujian. Dianchang building and the former site of Minxi industrial and Agricultural Bank are national key cultural relics protection units. Longmen tower, Xinluo first spring well, Longchi academy, Baitu riot site, civilization tower and Chishui tianhougong are provincial and municipal cultural relics protection units. The memorial sites include the former site of the Fourth Red Army headquarters and the first branch of the Chinese Red Army Military Academy, the former residence of Mao Zedong, the cemetery of revolutionary martyrs in Western Fujian and the exhibition hall of Houtian uprising.
In October 2018, Xinluo District was selected as one of the top 100 investment potential areas, top 100 science and technology innovation areas, top 100 new urbanization quality areas and top 100 green development areas in 2018. In 2019, the GDP will reach 94.65 billion yuan, an increase of 6.6%.
Historical evolution
Xinluo District is named after Xinluo spring, a famous spring in the south of the city. Chen Yuanguang, the king of Kaizhang in Tang Dynasty, and his four sons went up along the Jiulong River and led 8000 troops. They were all developed by Heluo people, which established the Heluo cultural attribute of Xinluo District.
In the third year of hanyonghe (138), Xinluo county was built.
Jin Taikang three years (282) home Kusao Town, belongs to Jin'an County of Xinluo County, county office is now Changting. In 468, Xinluo county was abolished. From Liang Tianjian to Sui Dynasty, it belonged to Longxi County.
In the 24th year of Tang Kaiyuan (736), Xinluo (Shiluo) county was restored, and it was subordinate to Tingzhou. Tianbao first year (742) renamed Longyan County, belonging to Tingzhou, linting County, the 12th year of Dali (777), to Zhangzhou.
In 1279, it belonged to Zhangzhou road; from Ming Dynasty to early Qing Dynasty, it belonged to Zhangzhou Prefecture. In 1734, Longyan Zhili Prefecture was established, with jurisdiction over Longyan, Zhangping and Ningyang counties.
In March 1913, the Prefecture was abolished to restore the county, belonging to tingzhang Road (not implemented). In July of the 23rd year of the Republic of China, it was the seventh administrative supervision district, and the commissioner was stationed in the county. It was changed into the Sixth District in the 24th year of the Republic of China and the seventh district in the 36th year of the Republic of China.
Longyan county was liberated on September 1, 1949. In August, the Longyan military control committee of the southwest Fujian temporary joint command of the Fujian Guangdong Jiangxi border column of the Chinese people's Liberation Army was established to take over the Longyan county government of the Republic of China. On November 10, the people's Government of Longyan county was established, which belongs to the eighth provincial administrative Commissioner's Office (renamed Longyan administrative inspector's office in April 1950 and Longyan administrative Commissioner's office in November 1950). In November 1968, the Revolutionary Committee of Longyan district was established, and in 1970, it was renamed the Revolutionary Committee of Longyan district; in September 1978, the Revolutionary Committee of Longyan district was abolished and changed into the administrative office of Longyan District, which belongs to Longyan county. In September 1981, the county was changed to Longyan city with the approval of the State Council. In 1996, Longyan district was abolished and set up as prefecture level Longyan city. The former Longyan city was Xinluo District. On March 21, 1997, Xinluo District was officially established.

The district government is located in Dongcheng Street. At the end of 1997, Dachi Township and Xiaochi Township were abolished and Dachi town and Xiaochi town were established.
In 1998, Longfeng neighborhood committee was set up in Dongcheng sub district office. By the end of this year, Xinluo District had jurisdiction over 9 sub district offices (including 5 unlisted streets in Dongxiao, Longmen, Caoxi, Tieshan and xipi), 7 towns, 3 townships, 42 neighborhood committees and 282 administrative villages.
According to the fifth census in 2000, the total population of Xinluo District is 543731, including 39117 in Dongcheng Street, 45093 in Nancheng street, 43509 in Xicheng street, 56599 in Zhongcheng street, 52939 in xipi street, 38811 in Caoxi street, 24784 in Dongxiao street, 26617 in Longmen street, 19912 in Tieshan street, 25444 in Hongfang Town, 42762 in Zhongzhong Town, 36733 in Yanshi town and 257 in Baisha Town 78, Wan'an town 12995, Dachi town 10902, Xiaochi town 12782, Jiangshan Township 9583, Yanshan Township 6659, and supan Township 12712.

Xinluo District is surrounded by mountains with an altitude of more than 800 meters. There are overlapping mountains in Xinluo District, alternating with valleys. The northwest and southeast parts are relatively high, and gradually incline to the northeast and central parts, with an average altitude of 685 meters.
