Cili County, a county under the jurisdiction of Zhangjiajie City, Hunan Province, is located in the east of Zhangjiajie City, Hunan Province, on the eastern edge of Wuling mountains, in the middle reaches of Lishui River, adjacent to Shimen County in the northeast, Taoyuan County in the southeast, Sangzhi County in the northwest and Yongding District in the southwest, with a total area of 3480 square kilometers. Cili County is located in the middle reaches of Lishui River, which is a transitional zone from Xiangxi mountainous area to lakeside plain. The terrain inclines from northwest to Southeast. The remaining veins of Wuling Mountain are divided into three East-West mountains in the territory. Li and Lou rivers run through the whole territory. The temperature of Wulei mountain in the territory is high in the day and low at night, cold in winter and cool in summer. The whole territory belongs to the subtropical monsoon humid climate zone.
Cili County is a part of Zhangjiajie, an international tourist attraction. It is known as "jinciyinli". It is a revolutionary base county and enjoys the reputation of "hot spring town", "Eucommia town", "marble town" and "giant salamander town".
In 2019, Cili County's GDP will reach 17.83 billion yuan, an increase of 7.4% over the previous year. In November 2020, it was rated as the 10th model county (city) of supporting the army, superior families, supporting the government and loving the people in Hunan Province. On January 29, 2021, it was selected into the list of areas with remarkable achievements in real work in 2020 announced by Hunan Provincial People's government.
Historical evolution
In 221, the 26th year of the first emperor of Qin Dynasty was divided into 36 counties. Under Qianzhong County, Cigu county (county governor taping, now Taiping Village, Jiangjiaping Township, Cili County) was established. It was the earliest administrative division in the Lishui River Basin. It governed Cili, Anxiang, Lixian, Jinshi, Linli, Shimen, Sangzhi counties, Yongding District, Wulingyuan District, Gongan District, Hefeng County, Hubei Province, Taoyuan County, Hunan Province.
In the Western Han Dynasty, in the fifth year of emperor Gaozu of the Han Dynasty (202), Qianzhong county was changed to Wuling County, and Cigu county was divided into three counties: Lingyang county (county governance in Baigong city), Chong county and Fuling county.
During the period of the Three Kingdoms, in 263, Emperor Wujing of the state of Wu set up Tianmen County, which was governed by Chong county (today's Yongding District), and louzhong county (now Cili sanguansi township) was set up in Lingyang and Chong county, which governed Lingyang, Chong and louzhong counties.
In the Western Jin Dynasty, the first year of Taikang (280 years) of Emperor Wu of Jin Dynasty, Liyang county was set up in the area of Shimen and Lixian, and linli County in the area of Sangzhi and Yongding. Tianmen County governs Lingyang, Chong, Linli, louzhong and Liyang counties.
In the southern and Northern Dynasties, the first year of shaotai (555), Emperor Jing of Liang Dynasty, the Tianmen county was abolished and Shimen County was set up.
Sui Dynasty, Emperor Wen kaihuang eighteen years (598), renamed Cili County, Chongzhou, county name take "soil vulgar chunci, product profit" meaning. In 607, Chongzhou was abolished and Liyang county was changed.
Tang Dynasty, Gaozu Wude two years (619), changed Liyang county to Lizhou. In the first year of Gao Zonglin's reign (664), Chong county was abolished and Chongyi county was transferred to Cili County.
In the Song Dynasty, in the first year of Qiande (963), Taizu changed Lizhou into Liyang Junzhou, belonging to Jinghu North Road.
Yuan Dynasty, Shizu to Yuan 12 years (1275), Liyang Junzhou rise for Lizhou road. In the 14th year of the Zhiyuan Dynasty (1277), it was changed to the office of the general manager of Lizhou road and led to Cili, Liyang, Shimen and Anxiang counties. In the first year of Yuanzhen (1295), Cili County was upgraded to Cigu Prefecture and renamed Cili Prefecture. It governs Cili, Sangzhi, Yongding, Wulingyuan and other districts and counties.
In the second year of Hongwu (1369) of Ming Dynasty, Cili Prefecture was demoted to Dayong county and renamed Cili County. In 1376, Cili County was under the jurisdiction of Changde Prefecture. In the 29th year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty (1396), it was divided into Cili, Shimen, Lizhou and Anxiang, which belonged to Changde Prefecture, and then it was transferred to Yuezhou Prefecture. In 1396, Jiuxi Wei was set up, which is located in Jiangya, Cili County. It led the front, back, left, right and middle five stations, and Tianping, Maliao and Anfu stations.
In 1730 (the eighth year of Yongzheng reign of the Qing Dynasty), the land was changed to Liugui, and Lizhou was upgraded to Zhili and changed to Lizhou. Gemaliao Institute (part of Cili's seventeen capitals and eighteen capitals) was set up in Rongmei Prefecture and Hefeng Prefecture, while geanfu Institute (Cili's sixteen capitals) was set up in Sangzhi County. In 1735, the 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th capitals and the 8th, 9th and 14th capitals of Cili were set up in Yongding County (now Yongding District).
In 1916, Wuling road was abolished and Dayong, Sangzhi and Cili counties were designated Chenyuan road.
