Pishan County Pishan county was established in the 28th year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu, named after the ancient country. Pishan county is located in the south of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the southern edge of Taklimakan Desert and the northern foot of Karakoram mountain. It is adjacent to Hotan County and Moyu County in the East, Yecheng County in the west, India and Pakistan in Kashmir in the south, and Maigaiti county and Bachu County in the north. Historical evolution

About three centuries ago, Pishan state was one of the thirty-six states in the western regions around the Tarim Basin. In 1882, the eighth year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty, Pishan belonged to Yecheng County, which belonged to Shache Prefecture of Kashgar road. In 1936, Pishan county set up seven administrative regions. In 1941, Pishan county was divided into eight districts. In 1946, the Baojia system was implemented.
Xinjiang was peacefully liberated on September 25, 1949. On December 25, 1949, the Chinese people's Liberation Army entered Pishan county and took over the old regime.
In March 1950, the people's Government of Pishan County in Hotan, Xinjiang named eight administrative regions.
In April 1954, the first people's Congress of pitan County in Hotan was held. The chief and deputy county heads were elected and the people's Committee of pitan county was established.

In 1986, Pishan town was renamed as Guma town (the Uygur called Pishan county "Guma"), forming an administrative division.
In 2012, the government of the autonomous region (new policy Letter No. 364) approved the abolition of Muji Township and the establishment of Muji town (implemented in 2013, Pzf No. 8).
