History of construction
There are human beings in panzhou City, which can be traced back to the Paleolithic age of 300000 years. Panzhou city is Yelang land in ancient times, which belongs to wanwen in Han Dynasty. Jinli ningzhou, Liu Song Set Xi'an County, Nanqi called Xining county.
In the early Tang Dynasty, Xiping Prefecture was established as a place for training state in the seventh year of Tang Wude (624). Because it was "over the top" in economy and culture, and because there was Panjiang River in Xiping Prefecture at that time, Xiping Prefecture was changed to panzhou in the eighth year of Tang Zhenguan (634 AD). From tianbaohou to Song Dynasty, it was the place of yuyabu (qimibu).
At the beginning of the Yuan Dynasty, Pu'an Road was built. Later, he was promoted to the Department of recruitment, then changed to the Department of Xuanfu, and became Pu'an Road.
In the 15th year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1382 AD), Wei Fu was set up at the same time. Pu'an Road was changed into Pu'an Fu, and another pu'shan Fu (Tu Fu) was set up. After the abolition of Pushan Prefecture, Pu'an Wei was promoted to the military and civilian command department. Yongle first year (AD 1043) set up the Department of general pacification, 13 years (AD 1415) the Department of pacification abolished, changed to the state of Pu'an. In the 14th year of Wanli (A.D. 1586), he moved to Pu'an Prefecture and ruled with Pu'an Wei.
In 1661 A.D., Pu'an County was located in Sanying Sanli Prefecture. In 1687 A.D., Pu'an Wei was transferred to Pu'an Prefecture. In the 14th year of Jiaqing (1809 AD), Pu'an Prefecture was upgraded to Zhili Prefecture, and in the 16th year, Pu'an Prefecture was changed to Pu'an Zhili hall. In the first year of Xuantong (1909), the administrative division was adjusted. In order to avoid the repetition of the name of Pu'an County, and because "it is the upper reaches of Nanpanjiang River, the confluence of the river and water can be traced back here", the ancient administrative division name "panzhou" was borrowed and changed to panzhou Department (still directly under the central government of Guizhou Province).
In 1913, due to the abolition of government, prefecture and department, panzhou department was changed to Panxian County, which was under the management of Qianxi road in Guizhou Province.

On August 17, 1965, Xingyi district was restored, and Panxian county was restored to Xingyi district.
On November 29, 1965, Panxian mining area people's Committee was established in Panxian county. Under the dual leadership of the Ministry of coal industry and Guizhou Provincial People's Committee, Panxian county still belongs to Xingyi district.
On February 22, 1966, the mining area was changed into a special zone.
In 1970, Xingyi district was renamed as Xingyi district. In 1971, the former Panxian special zone and Panxian county were merged into Panxian special zone, which still exercised county level functions and powers.
On December 18, 1978, Liupanshui District was changed into Liupanshui City, and Panxian special zone was under the leadership of Liupanshui City.
On February 28, 1999, Panxian special economic zone was changed into Panxian, and its subordinate relationship remained unchanged.
In April 2017, according to the reply of the Ministry of Civil Affairs on Approving the revocation of Panxian County in Guizhou Province and the establishment of panzhou city at county level, with the approval of the State Council, Panxian county was approved to be revoked and panzhou city at county level was established. The former administrative region of Panxian County was taken as the administrative region of panzhou City, and the people's Government of panzhou city was stationed at No. 1, Fengming North Road, Yizi street. Panzhou city is under the direct control of Guizhou Province, and Liupanshui city is under the agency.
