Yanfeng District Yanfeng District, located in the south of Hengyang City, is under the jurisdiction of Hengyang City, Hunan Province, formerly known as Chengnan district. Yanfeng district is adjacent to Zhuhui District in the East, Hengnan County in the south, Zhengxiang District in the West and shigu District in the north. It is said that "the geese fly to the south in the north and stop their wings here", so it is called Yanfeng.

Yanfeng area is located in Hengyang basin, with Red Rock Hilly landform, hilly terrain. The main landform type is hillock. The annual average temperature is 18.2 ℃.

In 2013, Yanfeng district has jurisdiction over 2 towns and 6 streets, with a total output value of 18.1 billion yuan in 2013. In 2015, after the township division of Yanfeng district was adjusted, it has jurisdiction over 6 streets. On January 29, 2021, it was selected into the list of areas with remarkable achievements in real work in 2020 announced by Hunan Provincial People's government.

Historical evolution

In 221 B.C., the first emperor of Qin Dynasty unified Yanfeng, which belonged to Hengyang.

In 220 A.D., Sun Wu set up Xiangdong County in the southeast of Changsha County and Hengyang County in the west of Changsha County, under the jurisdiction of Hengyang County, Hengnan County, Xiangnan, Hengshan, Hengdong, Nanyue District, Xiangxiang, Yiyang and other counties.

In 589 ad, the Sui Dynasty destroyed Chen and changed the county into a state. Xiangdong and Hengyang counties were abandoned and Hengzhou was established. Linqi was changed into Hengyang County.

In 1996, Chengnan district covers an area of 17 square kilometers and has a population of about 180000. It has jurisdiction over five streets: Xianfeng street, Xizhan street, Baishazhou street, huangchaling street and Yanfeng street. The district government is stationed in longchuanxiang.

According to the fifth census in 2000, there are 195001 permanent residents in Chengnan District, including 20424 in Xianfeng street, 40484 in Yanfeng street, 55499 in Xizhan street, 45814 in huangchaling street and 32780 in Baishazhou street; in addition, there are 17871 in Yueping Township and 30736 in Xiangjiang township.

On April 4, 2001, the State Council approved (guohan No. 34): to abolish Jiangdong District, Chengnan District, Chengbei district and suburbs of Hengyang City and establish Zhuhui District, Yanfeng District, shigu District and Zhengxiang District of Hengyang City. Yanfeng District governs Yanfeng, Baishazhou, huangchaling, Tianmashan, Xianfeng Road, Xiangjiang township (excluding Yangliu Village), Yueping township (excluding Lianhe, Yueping and Beitang villages) and Wenchang Township in Hengnan County. The District People's government is located in Xiangjiang South Road.

In 2004, Yanfeng District governed five streets, one town and one township: Xianfeng street, Yanfeng street, Tianmashan street, huangchaling street, Baishazhou street, Yueping town and Xiangjiang township. Xianfeng street has jurisdiction over 7 communities including Yanjiang South Road, Zhongshan South Road, Guanghui, zuojiatai, Aimin Road, Xianfeng and Huangqing lane. Yanfeng street has jurisdiction over 9 communities including daxianping, Jielong village, yudetang, yuhuating, xiangyinling, Yanfeng Road, Lijiachong, Xinjia village, Dangjia Village and Yuedong village committee. Tianmashan Street governs six communities, namely Yueping, hongjiatang, suyanjing, Shengli mountain, Tianmashan and Guangrong intersection. Huangchaling Street governs nine communities including huangchaling, Zhujiang bridge, chaetang, Yingpan village, Hengchang village, huangchalu, Xiaotang village, leigongtang, dingjiapailou and Hongqi village committee. Baishazhou Street governs 10 communities, including xinkuang village, tongqiaogang, Yuanyuan, oushuiling, zhizhixin village, Lianhuashan, Baishazhou, baizhuzao, sutian village and Jinlong Village. Yueping town has two neighborhood committees, namely 301 and zhimatang, and 11 village committees, namely Wenchang, Silin, shantiansi, Fulong, Gongyi, Dongfeng, Shuidong, Qianjin, Jinqiao, Xinglong and Longqiao, as well as Yueping farm and Yuejin farm. Xiangjiang Township governs 9 village committees: Dongzhou, Xiangjiang, Wuxing, Gaoxing, Chayuan, Qifeng, Maoye, Changtang and Baisha. Xiangjiang farm governs the agricultural village committee. Animals: there are more than 200 species of mammals and birds in Yanfeng District, including 30 species of mammals and more than 170 species of birds in 40 families of 17 orders. Clouded leopard, white stork and Chinese merganser are the first class protected animals in China. There are pangolin, tiger frog, otter, civet and so on. There are more than 30 species of egret, ring necked pheasant, bamboo pheasant, white bone top and so on.

Plants: there are 1047 species of woody plants in 99 families, 342 genera in Yanfeng district. Ginkgo biloba, cash tree, cash tree, etc. are protected and treasured at the national level.
