Taijiang District Taijiang District (belonging to Fujian county and Houguan County of Fuzhou in ancient times) is under the jurisdiction of Fuzhou City, Fujian Province. It is located in the middle of Fuzhou City and on the North Bank of the lower reaches of Minjiang River. Its geographical center coordinates are 26 ° 05 ′ N and 119 ° 18 ′ E. It is bounded by guangminggang, Jin'an River and Jin'an District in the East, Minjiang River and Cangshan District in the West and south, Qiongdong River, dongxihe River, Douchi Road, Shangpu road and Gulou District in the north.
The land area of Taijiang District is 18 square kilometers, and the water area is 1.91 square kilometers. The total length of the coastline is more than 7800 meters. Historical evolution
Taijiang District, formerly known as Nantai. In 202 B.C., Wu Zhu, king of Fujian and Yue, went ashore from the river and built a platform in Damiao mountain to offer sacrifices to heaven. "When he ascended the southern city and looked forward to it, there was a platform near the river," hence the names of Taijiang and Nantai. Taijiang area has always been full of merchants, which has been known as the "golden land" and "cornucopia" of Commerce. It began to prosper in the Tang and Song Dynasties, and reached its peak in the early Republic of China. More than 30 "guilds" of the local associations and "business groups" of the industry have been formed. In 1945 (34 years of the Republic of China), Taijiang District Office and Xiaoqiao District Office were established in Taijiang area, under the jurisdiction of Fuzhou City.
In January 1946, when Fuzhou was established, Taijiang District was set up, which was juxtaposed with Xiaoqiao district. After liberation on August 17, 1949, it was still one of the municipal districts. In May 1956, Xiaoqiao district was abolished and merged into Taijiang District. In September 1968, Taijiang District was renamed Chiwei district. In April 1978, Chiwei district was renamed Taijiang District.
In November 1955, five sub district offices were set up in cangxia, Zhongping, Houzhou, Yingzhou and Xingang. In May 1956, Xiaoqiao district was abolished and merged into Taijiang District. Its five sub district offices, namely, chating, Yangzhong, shuanghang, Yizhou and bangzhou, were under the jurisdiction of Taijiang District. In October 1957, Zhongping sub district office was abolished and merged into cangxia sub district office. In February 1970, Gushan commune was incorporated into Chiwei commune and was assigned to Chiwei district. In November 1973, Chiwei commune was divided into Chiwei commune and Dongfeng commune. In March 1975, Dongfeng commune was abolished and Gushan commune and Guling commune were established. In May, Gushan and Guling communes were put into the suburbs. In July, Chiwei commune was classified as a vegetable area. In 1986, Shanghai Xincun sub district office was set up.
On October 27, 1995, the State Council (Guo Han No. 102) approved to adjust the administrative areas of Fuzhou Municipal District, including: (1) Taijiang District governs 10 sub district offices, including Yingzhou, Xingang, Houzhou, chating, Yangzhong, shuanghang, cangxia, bangzhou, Yizhou and Shanghai Xincun, Taijiang Town, Nangong, Shuguang, Hongqi, Shuangfeng and Hongxing Xiangban, Changting and Gaoqiao are three neighborhood committees in Shanzhen. The residence of the District People's government remains unchanged. (2) The four neighborhood committees of douzhong, xiyingli, Fuzhong and jiufuan in chating street were put under the jurisdiction of Gulou District. The three neighborhood committees of Lianpan, Lianhui and Xiangyuan in Xingang street were put under the jurisdiction of Jin'an District.
In January 1996, after the adjustment of Fuzhou's administrative divisions, Taijiang District was divided into two neighborhood committees, Longting and Zhuangyuan, from Gulou District; five village committees, Nangong, Hongxing, Shuguang, Hongqi and Shuangfeng, from Taijiang town in the former suburb; three village committees, xiangban, Changting and Gaoqiao, from Hongshan town; four neighborhood committees, douzhong, xiyingli, Fuzhong and jiufuan, from chating sub district office, were divided into Gulou District; Four neighborhood committees, namely Lianpan, Lianhui, Banghui and Xiangyuan, were set up in Jin'an District, and two sub district offices, namely Ninghua and Aofeng, were set up.
In 1997, Shanghai Xincun sub district office was renamed Shanghai sub district office.
In 2000, Taijiang District governed 12 streets: chating street, Yangzhong street, cangxia street, shuanghang street, bangzhou street, Yizhou street, Shanghai Street, Yingzhou street, Xingang street, Houzhou street, Aofeng street and Ninghua street.
In 2001, Taijiang District had 12 sub district offices, including Yangzhong, Shanghai, chating, Xingang, Ninghua, Yizhou, bangzhou, shuanghang, cangxia, Houzhou, Yingzhou and Aofeng, with 90 neighborhood committees and 8 village committees. It covers an area of 18.02 square kilometers and has a population of about 297000.
In April 2004, shuanghang street was merged into Houzhou street and bangzhou Street into cangxia street.
By the end of 2005, Taijiang District had jurisdiction over 10 streets of Aofeng, Yingzhou, Xingang, chating, Yangzhong, Houzhou, cangxia, Yizhou, Shanghai and Ninghua, 90 community neighborhood committees, 115289 permanent residents and 318895 people, with a population density of 17716.39 people per square kilometer.

Since 2004, the old city of Hengjie in Fuzhou (from the south side of yangtoukou to the north side of Xiaoqiaotou) has been reconstructed. Ziyunshan (the former Xiaoqiao primary school residence) on the north side of pingda Road, Jindoushan (the former Yangzhong Street office residence) on the north side of cultural palace gate, baofushan (residence) around Fuzhou No.8 Middle School and the small highland around jixiangshan (residence) have been cut off. Baimahe and Baixiangshan are located in the territory Small inland rivers such as Mazhi River, Daqing River, Xingang River, Tiegang, Yingzhou River, Dadao River, Sanjie River, chating River, guangminggang, one branch of guangminggang, two branches of guangminggang; lakes, ponds and Hepu in South Park, chating Park, Crocodile Park and Yafeng park.

There are 152 ancient banyan trees in Taijiang District, of which 70 are more than 1 meter in diameter at breast height. The largest ancient banyan is next to Tielong No.1, with a tree girth of 4 meters. There are four ancient banyan trees in Bangbian village. The only ancient wisteria in Fuzhou City is located in Yangzhong police station, bay17 Middle Road, Taijiang District. It is more than 10 meters high and divided into two branches. Its diameter at breast height is 0.5 and 0.3 meters respectively, and its crown width is more than 30 square meters. The 6 camphor trees and 10 banyan trees in Taijiang power plant of Fuzhou form a camphor banyan forest with DBH of more than 0.8 meters. There are four chongyangmu trees in Taijiang District, the largest of which is located in Fuzhou No.34 middle school. The tree is 4.4 meters in girth, 10 meters in height, with luxuriant branches and leaves and over 200 years old.

There are many rivers in Taijiang area. According to the statistics in 1949, there are 5 large wells in Taijiang and Xiaoqiao District, and 617 wells (accounting for 11% of Fuzhou City).
