Jinchuan County, formerly known as Jinghua County, belongs to Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture of Sichuan Province. It is located in Northwest Sichuan Plateau and southwest of Aba Prefecture. It is located in the eastern edge of Qinghai Tibet Plateau and the upper reaches of Dadu River. In June 1959, dajinchuan was merged with Guanyinqiao and Zhoushan districts in chuoshijia county and renamed Jinchuan county.
In December 2019, Sichuan Provincial People's government agreed to abolish Taiyanghe Township, Wanlin Township, marbang Township and Manai Township in Jinchuan county and establish Manai town.
