Shuangfeng County Shuangfeng County, subordinate to Loudi City, Hunan Province, is located in the hinterland of Hunan Province. It is adjacent to Xiangtan County and Hengshan County in the East, Hengyang County in the south, Shaodong city and Lianyuan City in the west, and Loudi City and Xiangxiang City in the north. It is 61 kilometers long from east to west, 59.2 kilometers wide from north to south, with a total area of 1596 square kilometers. By the end of 2018, the permanent resident population of Shuangfeng County was 827400. As of July 2019, Shuangfeng County has 11 towns, 3 townships and 2 streets.
During the period of the Republic of China, Shuangfeng was subordinate to Xiangxiang county. In August 1951, three, six and seven districts of Xiangxiang county were designated to establish Shuangfeng County, which belongs to Yiyang special district, with Yongfeng town as the county seat. In July 1999, Loudi Prefecture was established as a city, and Shuangfeng was subordinate to Loudi City.
In 2018, Shuangfeng County achieved a GDP of 23.357 billion yuan. On April 16, 2019, after on-the-spot inspection and on-the-spot evaluation by the third party, Hunan Provincial People's government found that Shuangfeng County met the exit conditions of poverty-stricken counties and agreed to get rid of poverty. On January 29, 2021, it was selected into the list of areas with remarkable achievements in real work in 2020 announced by Hunan Provincial People's government.
Historical evolution
In the 26th year of the reign of the king of Qin (221 BC), Xiangnan county was set up. Today, Shuangfeng County belongs to it and is subordinate to Changsha County.
In the fifth year of emperor Gaodi of the Western Han Dynasty (202 BC), Liandao was set up. The two peaks belong to Liandao county and Xiangnan county respectively. Liandao and Xiangnan belong to Changsha state.
In the early period of Jianwu in the Eastern Han Dynasty, Xiangxiang county was set up from Xiangnan county. In Shuangfeng County, part of Xiangxiang belonged to Lingling County of Jingzhou, and part of Liandao belonged to Changsha County of Jingzhou.

In the fourth year of Wude (621), Emperor Gaozu of Tang Dynasty, Xiangxiang county was restored from Hengshan County.
In the first year of Kaiping (907), Xiangxiang County belonged to Changsha Prefecture of Chu state.
In the first year of Qiande of Song Dynasty (963), Xiangxiang returned to Tanzhou.
In the first year of Yuanzhen (1295), Xiangxiang Minzhi wanhu was promoted to Xiangzhou, belonging to Tanzhou road in Huguang province; in the second year of Tianli (1329), Tanzhou road was changed to Tianlin road.
In 1369, Xiangxiang Prefecture was restored as a county, which was the capital of Xiangxiang Prefecture. The county magistrate summoned the exile and reclaimed more than 8000 mu of wasteland one after another. In the fifth year of Hongwu (1372), Tanzhou Prefecture was changed into Changsha Prefecture.
In the third year of the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty (1738), Hu Shu, the county governor, was stationed in Yongfeng.
During the period of the Republic of China (1912-1949), Shuangfeng was subordinate to Xiangxiang county.
On October 2, 1949, Yongfeng was liberated by a regiment of the 123rd division of the 41st army of the Chinese people's Liberation Army. On the 5th, Shuangfeng was liberated. In the same month, the CPC District Committee and the District People's government were established in Xiangxiang county. The three districts in Shuangfeng are Yongfeng Town, Jinxi Datang and qingshuping.
In August 1951, according to the notice of the people's Government of Hunan Province, three, six and seven districts of Xiangxiang county were designated to establish Shuangfeng County, which belongs to Yiyang special district and Yongfeng town.
On November 20, 1952, Shuangfeng County was changed into Shaoyang district.
In September 1977, Shaoyang area was divided into Shaoyang and Lianyuan areas. Shuangfeng County belongs to Lianyuan area.
In 1982, Lianyuan area was renamed Loudi area, and Shuangfeng was subordinate to Loudi area.
In July 1999, Loudi Prefecture was established as a city, and Shuangfeng was subordinate to Loudi City.
