Danling County, subordinate to Meishan City, Sichuan Province, is located in the southwest edge of Chengdu Plain in Sichuan Basin, located in Chengdu Economic Zone and Chengdu Chongqing Economic Zone. Danling County, covering an area of 450 square kilometers, governs seven townships with a total population of 168000 (in 2018). Danling county is mild in four seasons and belongs to subtropical humid monsoon climate.

Historical evolution
Danling county is called Qile county during the period of Qi Ming emperor in the Southern Dynasty.
In the Southern Qi Dynasty, Qile county was established and later renamed Hongya County. In 593, it was changed to Danling county. According to the explanation of Jinxian County: "in the north of the county, there is chiya mountain, which is towering and red with ridges. It looks like a bird swimming. Gongyi County governs the county, and the name of Danling comes from it." Yuan was merged into Meizhou. During the Ming Dynasty, it was restored to Meishan County. It was still Danling County in 1950. In 1959, it was incorporated into Hongya County and set up Danling district. In 1962, it was restored. In 1997, it was put under the jurisdiction of the newly established Meishan region. It is under the jurisdiction of Meishan City.
In 1996, Danling County covered an area of 448.9 square kilometers with a population of 160000. It has jurisdiction over 5 towns and 7 townships: Danling Town, Yangchang Town, Hechang Town, Shiqiao Town, Tanghe Town, Wangchang Town, Shunlong Town, Renmei Town, Shuangqiao Town, Zhonglong Town, Renxing town and Zhangchang town. The county government is located in Danling town.
According to the fifth census in 2000, there are 162096 permanent residents in Danling County, including 29765 in Danling Town, 18211 in Yangchang Town, 18089 in Renmei Town, 19323 in Shuangqiao Town, 11883 in Zhangchang Town, 4457 in Shiqiao Township, 10542 in Tanghe Township, 13236 in zhonglong Township, 13345 in Hechang Township, 9930 in Shunlong Township, 9441 in Renxing Township and 3874 in Wangchang township.
In 2004, Danling County governed 5 towns (Danling, Yangchang, Renmei, Shuangqiao, Zhangchang) and 7 townships (zhonglong, Shiqiao, Shunlong, Tanghe, Hechang, Renxing, Wangchang).
On April 30, 2005, Sichuan Provincial People's Government (Chuanfu civil affairs No. 14) and Meishan Municipal People's government's reply on approval of Danling county's adjustment of township administrative divisions (Meifu Letter No. 30) agreed to cancel Tanghe, Hechang, zhonglong, Wangchang and Renxing in Danling County, expand the administrative areas of four towns, and merge the administrative areas of Tanghe Township into Danling town. Danling town government is located at 129 Binhe South Road. The administrative region of Hechang township was merged into Yangchang town. Yangchang town government is stationed in Yangchang. The former administrative region of Zhonglong township was merged into Shuangqiao town. Shuangqiao town government is located in Shuangqiao town. The former Wangchang and Renxing townships were merged into Zhangchang town. Zhangchang town government is stationed in Zhangchang.
By the end of 2005, Danling county had jurisdiction over five towns (Danling, Yangchang, Renmei, Shuangqiao, Zhangchang) and two townships (Shiqiao, Shunlong).
According to the sixth census in 2010, there are 141953 permanent residents in Danling County, including 14090 in Renmei Town, 42778 in Danling Town, 26596 in Yangchang Town, 26650 in Shuangqiao Town, 20675 in Zhangchang Town, 3761 in Shiqiao Town and 7403 in Shunlong town.

(40) Danling Town, Shiqiao Township and Shuangqiao town were abolished and Qile town was established. The administrative areas of Danling Town, yuanshiqiao Township, Shihe village, Huangjin village, Suchang village, Meiwan village, longgeng village, Tiangong village and Shizi village of Yangchang town will be under the jurisdiction of Qile town.
