In the second year of Wu Taiping in the Three Kingdoms (257), Linchuan county was set up in Yuzhang County, and Nanfeng County, Dongxing county and Yongcheng county were set up in Nancheng county. Dongxing county and Yongcheng County belong to the present Lichuan region. At that time, the two counties, together with Nancheng County, belonged to Linchuan county. In the second year of Kaibao in the Northern Song Dynasty (969), a military army was set up in the south of the Southern Tang Dynasty. In the third year of Taiping's rejuvenation of the state in the Northern Song Dynasty (978), the military army was rebuilt into Jianchang army.
In 1138, the eighth year of Shaoxing in the Southern Song Dynasty, Li Gang, the pacifier, Feng Rulin, and Xu Lin, the transit envoys, analyzed that the five townships in the southeast of Nancheng (Fengyi, Jingshan, Lijiao, Dongxing, and De'an) were located in Xincheng County. In the early Yuan Dynasty, it was still made in Song Dynasty. In 1277, Changjun was rebuilt as a road. Xincheng County was under the jurisdiction of Jianchang road.
Renyin (1362), the emperor of Ming Dynasty, changed Jianchang road to Zhaochang mansion in February and Jianchang mansion in September. Xincheng County was under the jurisdiction of Jianchang mansion. In the seventh year of Zhengde of Ming Dynasty (1513), the city wall and earth wall were built in Litan Town, which lasted for two years.

On May 18, 1949, according to the instructions of Nanchang City Work Department of Hunan Jiangxi Working Committee of the Communist Party of China, the people's guerrilla corps of Jiangxi Fujian border region led by Wu Jibin of the county entered Lichuan County; on May 28, 1949, the 45th and 46th divisions of the 15th corps of the second field army of the Chinese people's Liberation Army entered Lichuan County from Fujian, and the whole territory of Lichuan was liberated.
