Youxian district is subordinate to Mianyang City, Sichuan Province. Youxian district is located in the northwest of Sichuan Basin, bordering Zitong County in the East, Santai County and Yanting County in the south, Fujiang River in the West and Fucheng District across the river, and Jiangyou City in the north. The origin of the name
Youxian district is located in the east of Fujiang River. According to Ge Hong's biography of immortals in the Jin Dynasty, Li Yiqi, an immortal who traveled all over the world in the Han Dynasty, practiced here, and later generations practiced Youxian temple as a memorial, so he got the name of Youxian.

During the 700 years from the Western Wei Dynasty to the Yuan Dynasty, there were two county-level administrative organs, namely "Weicheng" and "Yanquan".
Weicheng County
Weicheng County lasted 730 years from the establishment of the Western Wei Dynasty to the early Yuan Dynasty.
In 553, Weicheng county was set up in Fu County. According to the records of Sui Shu · geography annals, Tang Dynasty Yuanhe County Tuzhi, Qing Dynasty Jiaqing edition Sichuan Tongzhi and other books, Weicheng county was newly established in the second year of the abandoned emperor of the Western Wei Dynasty in Fu County. The governor was in Yuhe Town, Youxian District, which belongs to Brazil County. The name of Weicheng county is unknown. According to Taiping Huanyu Ji of the Northern Song Dynasty, "TongZhou was established in Fu County in the Western Wei Dynasty, so the northern part of Tongzhou was established as Weicheng county." Because it was a county built in the Western Wei Dynasty, it was named Weicheng county.
The Northern Zhou Dynasty followed the Western Wei Dynasty.
In 583, Weicheng county was changed to Tongzhou. Kaihuang five years (585), change Li mianzhou. In the third year of Daye (607), he was transferred to Jinshan County. In 614, the county government moved from yuhechang to Weicheng Town, Youxian district. According to the records of Yuanhe County in Tang Dynasty, "Weicheng county was originally located in Fuxian County of Han Dynasty, and moved from Yanquan well to Weicheng County in the 10th year of Sui Dynasty.".
In Tang Dynasty, Five Dynasties, Tang Dynasty and later Shu Dynasty, Weicheng county was subordinate to mianzhou.
In Song Dynasty, Weicheng county was still subordinate to mianzhou (Brazil county).
In 1283, Weicheng county was abolished and merged into mianzhou.
Yanquan County
It took 663 years for Yanquan county to be established in the early Tang Dynasty and abolished in the early Yuan Dynasty.
Tang Gaozu Wude three years (620), divided into Weicheng county to set Yanquan County, mianzhou. "The old book of the Tang Dynasty geographical records" contains: "Yanquan County, Wude three years divided into Wei city land." The county is located in Yuhe Town, Youxian district. Yanquan county has many salt wells, so it gets its name from the poem "well of salt spring at home" in Shu Du Fu written by Zuo Si, a poet of Jin Dynasty.
Before and after the Five Dynasties, Yanquan county was still subordinate to mianzhou.
In the Song Dynasty, it belonged to mianzhou (Brazil county), and Yanquan county was deserted at the end of the Song Dynasty.
In 1283, Yanquan county was abolished and merged into mianzhou.
Merger period
In the second year of the Republic of China (1913), mianzhou was withdrawn to govern the city, which was located in the Yang of Mianshan and changed to Mianyang county.
In 1976, Chengguan Town, suburb, Kaiyuan, horticulture and Wuyi commune of Mianyang county were set up as Mianyang City (county level).
In 1978, Mianyang county was abolished and merged into Mianyang City.
