Yantan district is subordinate to Zigong City, Sichuan Province. It got its name from the district government's residence in Yantan town. It was founded in 1953 and is located in the South Gate of Zigong City. It is the hometown of martyr Lu Deming, the commander in chief of the Autumn Harvest Uprising. It is one of the four municipal districts of Zigong City, the Millennium salt capital. It is 12 kilometers away from Zigong City. It borders Da'an District in the north, covering an area of 467.99km2. The terrain is high in the northwest and low in the southeast, with an average altitude of 300-400 meters. It belongs to gentle slope low hill, gentle slope medium Hill landform type, no formed mountains, suitable for cultivation area is large.
At the end of 2011, the area of cultivated land along the beach area was 258700 mu, including 163100 mu of paddy field, 95700 mu of dry land and 0.77 mu of cultivated land per capita. It is an agricultural area dominated by grain and oil production, and the per capita net income of farmers is 6616 yuan.
The total industrial output value of Yantan district started from zero in 1949 to 7.5 million yuan in 1978, and reached 18.893 billion yuan in 2011, an increase of 49.98% over 2010.
In July 2019, it will be selected as the pilot county (District) of the national intellectual property project.
Evolution of organizational system
Yantan District, formerly known as the suburb of Zigong City, was established on July 1, 1953. At that time, Yantan district was under the jurisdiction of 20 administrative townships in some areas of Ziliujing, Da'an and Gongjing.
In February 1959, it belonged to Fushun County and Yibin County respectively, and part of the area was classified as suburb.
In July 1961, the suburbs were divided back into Ziliujing, Da'an and Gongjing.
In March 1983, the suburb was renamed Yantan District, and the former part of the territory was completely allocated from Fushun and Yibin counties.
From August 1, 2005, the five towns of Shuping, Gaofeng, Zhongquan, nongtuan and Qishu under the jurisdiction of Yantan district were classified as Ziliujing District, and the two towns of Washi and Xianshi under the jurisdiction of Fushun County were classified as Yantan district.
On July 1, 2007, the Management Committee of Zigong private economic development park was entrusted to Zigong hi tech Zone. The CPC Yantan District Committee and government moved to Yantan town in May 1960.

Location context
The beach area is located between 104 ° 40 ′ 42 ″ - 105 ° 58 ′ 00 ″ E and 29 ° 07 ′ 53 ″ - 29 ° 23 ′ 19 ″ n. It is connected with Fushun County in the East, Ziliujing District in the west, Yibin City in the South and Da'an District in the north. It is 13 kilometers away from the downtown area of Zigong.

The topography of the beach area is characterized by high in the northwest, low in the southeast, many gullies, wide distribution of hills, narrow flat dams, separated by parallel folds in the southeast of Sichuan. It belongs to the hilly area in the basin, and the terrain inclines from the northwest to the southeast. The main geomorphic types in the territory are low and medium hills, accounting for 90.0% of the total area. The surface slope is mainly grade 3 and grade 4, accounting for 75.06% of the total area.
The beach area is located in the hilly area of South Sichuan, and its topography is affected by dengjingguan and Xinglongchang anticlines. The terrain of this area is high in the northwest and low in the southeast. The altitude ranges from 300 to 400 meters, with the highest altitude of 457.10 meters in Jiling mountain, Pudian village, Fuquan town; the lowest altitude of 256.40 meters in xiaheba, Yankou, Dengguan street.
Water conservancy conditions
The rivers in the beach area belong to the Tuojiang River Basin, among which Fuxi River belongs to the first level tributary of Tuojiang River. There are 11 rivers in the area, with a total length of 265.4 km, a river network density of 0.32 km / km2, a total runoff of 184 million cubic meters, an annual drainage of 443 million cubic meters, and an annual maximum drainage of 627 million cubic meters. The length of Tuojiang River is 6.87km from daanliu to Neiwa city; the length of Fuxi River, a primary tributary of Tuojiang River, is 59.9km from Ziliujing to Weiping, Xianshi, Yantan, Wangjing and Dengguan, with a drainage area of 436 square kilometers, accounting for 16.4%, with an average annual flow of 33.63m3/s; the main tributaries of Fuxi River are Shutan River, yangcha River, wangzi River and tieqian River, with a total length of 198.7km.

The average annual temperature range is 25.5 ℃, and the maximum daily temperature range is 22.5 ℃ (March 18, 1965). The average annual growth period is 263 days, the average frost free period is 224 days, the longest is 254 days, the shortest is 192 days. The annual average sunshine hours are 2166.3 hours, and the annual total radiation is 115.7 kcal / cm2. The duration above 0 ℃ is 337 days (generally from February 1 to January 1 of the next year). The average annual precipitation is 950mm, and the average annual rainfall days are 150 days, with the maximum of 170 days (2010) and the minimum of 115 days (2011). The extreme annual maximum rainfall was 1176.2 mm (1999), and the extreme annual minimum rainfall was 506 mm (2011). The rainfall is concentrated from May to September every year, with the majority in July.

Mineral resources
As of 2013, Yantan district is rich in mineral resources, including yellow and black brine, natural gas, oil, coal, limestone and quartz. It is mainly distributed in Dengguan town and Xinglong town. Among them, the yellow and black brine reserves reach 92 million cubic meters, the natural gas reserves are 5.617 billion cubic meters, and the coal mine reserves are 4.525 million tons.

The total volume of standing trees in the region is 108163 cubic meters, of which the stand volume is 93373 cubic meters, accounting for 86.33%, and the book forest volume is 7380 cubic meters, accounting for 6.82%. The characteristics of forest resources are: uneven distribution, relatively concentrated secondary natural forest, single tree species, mainly Pinus massoniana, Pinus elliottii, eucalyptus, poplar, cypress and Phyllostachys edulis.

Minjiang River and Tuojiang River system have 11 small rivers in the whole region, with a total length of 298.9 kilometers, a drainage area of 312.1 square kilometers, and a total surface runoff of 185.032 million cubic meters. 4406 water conservancy projects have been built in the region, including 12 small (1) reservoirs and 44 small (2) reservoirs. There are 4148 shanpingtang, 89 shiheyan, 113 electric pumping irrigation stations, 122 sets and 6594 kW.
