Fuqing Fuqing (Fuqing County of Fuzhou Prefecture in ancient times) is a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Fuzhou City, Fujian Province. It is also called Yurong. It is located in the east coast of Fujian Province, the central hub of the Economic Zone on the west side of the Straits and the south wing of Fuzhou, the capital city of Fujian Province.
As of 2016, Fuqing City has a total area of 2430 square kilometers, including land area of 1519 square kilometers and sea area of 911 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over 7 streets and 17 towns. In 2019, 1391249 people registered residence.
Historical evolution
As far back as 4000 years ago in the Neolithic age, our ancestors had been slash and burn farming in Fuqing.
In the second year of Tang Shengli (699), eight townships of Taiping, Gande, Chongfu, Shanting, Xiaoyi, Wan'an, Changdong and Yongle, located in Wan'an county and subordinate to Fuzhou, were analyzed.

According to the words "Yongfu" and "Qingyuan" in the phrase "mountain comes from yongfuli, water comes from qingyuanli, meeting in Zhisuo", he changed his name to Fuqing, which is still in use today. Li changyuefu (in 1949, Fuzhou was promoted to changyuefu).
In Song Dynasty, Fuqing county was still subordinate to Fuzhou. During this period, in the fifth year of Taiping Xingguo in the Northern Song Dynasty (980), he was transferred to Xinghua army. In the first year of Jingyan in Southern Song Dynasty (1276), Fuzhou was promoted to Fu'an Prefecture, and Fuqing county was subordinate to Fu'an Prefecture.
In the early Yuan Dynasty, Fuqing County belonged to Fuzhou road. In the first year of Yuanzhen (1295), with 40000 households, it was promoted to fuqingzhou, still attached to Fuzhou road. In the first year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1369), it was restored to the county and attached to Fuzhou Prefecture. In 1645, the first year of Longwu in the Southern Ming Dynasty, it was subordinate to Tianxing Prefecture. In the Qing Dynasty, Fuqing county was still subordinate to Fuzhou Prefecture. In the third year of Jiaqing (1798), Haitan Island in Fuqing county was located in Pingtan military hall, Zhili Fuzhou.
In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), Fuqing County belonged to Donglu Road (renamed minhai road in the third year of the Republic of China). In 1925, Fuqing county was directly under the provincial jurisdiction. During the period of the people's revolutionary government of the Republic of China from December 1933 to January 1934, Fuqing County belonged to minhai province. In July 1934, Fuqing county was subordinate to the first administrative supervision district of Fujian Province. In August of the same year, Nanri island was under the jurisdiction of Fuqing county. In April 1935, Nanri island was separated from Fuqing county and established a special area under the jurisdiction of the first administrative supervision area. On September 10 of the same year, Nanri island was under the jurisdiction of Fuqing County, and was listed as the fourth regional administration. In December 1936, the Fourth District Office was changed to Nanri special district, which was directly under the provincial jurisdiction (so far, Nanri island was separated from Fuqing). In May 1940, the special zone of Nanri island was abolished and put under the jurisdiction of Putian County. In April 1947, Fuqing county was directly under the provincial jurisdiction.
It was liberated on August 16, 1949. It belongs to the fourth administrative supervision district of Fujian Province (September 1949), Minhou district (1950), Jinjiang District (1956), Minhou district (1959), Putian district (1971) and Fuzhou City (July 1983).
On December 26, 1990, the State Council approved the abolition of Fuqing county and the establishment of Fuqing City (county level).
It was officially listed on May 5, 1991.
In 1994, Yidu township was abolished and Yidu town was established. In 1999, the Fujian Provincial Department of Civil Affairs approved the abolition of Nanling Township and the establishment of Nanling town.
On December 24, 2005, the Fujian Provincial People's government's reply on Approving the adjustment of the administrative divisions in the central urban area of Fuqing (minzhengwen No. 586) agreed to abolish three towns and one street in Yinxi, Yangxia, Honglu and Rongcheng, separate out eight village committees in Haikou, including Xiangfeng, Tangtou, Beidian, Baidu, Longzhong, Fangli, Nanzhai and Xianqiang, and integrate and establish Yuping, Longshan, Longjiang and Yinqiang West, Honglu, Shizhu, Yangxia 7 streets.
