Shaodong Shaodong, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Hunan Province, is managed by Shaoyang City, also known as Zhaoyang. It is located in the east of Shaoyang City. The terrain rises from north to south, and the central part is uplifted, which inclines from east to west. It has a total area of 1768.75 square kilometers and governs 4 townships, 18 towns and 3 streets. In 2018, it has a permanent population of 910600.
The main mineral deposits in Shaodong are gypsum, coal, lead, zinc, manganese and iron. 320 National Road, s315 provincial road, Tan Shao Expressway, Heng Shao Expressway, Lou Shao railway, Luo Zhan railway and Huai Heng railway pass through the territory. Scenic spots and historic sites include the site of Houcheng in Zhaoyang, Yunlin temple in Shehu mountain, Hanmo Lake in jiulongling, Yinjia hall, Shantang house and Hongqiao in Ming and Qing Dynasties.
In 2018, Shaodong achieved a GDP of 43.045 billion yuan, an increase of 11% over the previous year at comparable prices. Among them, the added value of the primary industry was 4279.66 million yuan, an increase of 1.9%; the added value of the secondary industry was 20536.83 million yuan, an increase of 11.7%; the added value of the tertiary industry was 18228.38 million yuan, an increase of 12.9%. In 2019, Shaodong's GDP will reach 60.56449 billion yuan. On January 29, 2021, it was selected into the list of areas with remarkable achievements in real work in 2020 announced by Hunan Provincial People's government.
Historical evolution
During the spring and Autumn period and the Warring States period, Shaoyang County belonged to the state of Chu.
In the 26th year of the reign of the king of Qin (221 BC), after the first emperor of Qin unified China, he abolished enfeoffment and set up counties. Shaoyang County belongs to Changsha County.
In the early Western Han Dynasty, Shaoyang County belonged to Zhaoling County of Changsha. In the sixth year of Yuanshuo (123 BC), Emperor Wu of the Western Han Dynasty changed Zhaoling county to Lingling county. In the fifth year (5th year) of the first year of emperor Ping of the Western Han Dynasty, the Marquis state of Zhaoyang was set up in today's yeongcun village of Huangpi Qiaoxiang, which still belongs to Lingling county.
In the Eastern Han Dynasty, the Marquis state of Zhaoyang was changed into Zhaoyang county.
In 280, Emperor Wu of the Western Jin Dynasty changed Zhaoling county to Shaoling county and Zhaoyang county to Shaoyang County. The name of Shaoyang began from then on, but Shaoyang is exactly the present Shaodong, and the county government is in yujiaqiao.
In 581, the first year of Emperor Wen of Sui Dynasty, Shaoling county was abolished and renamed Shaoyang County, and the county government was moved from yujiaqiao to today's Shaoyang City. Shaoyang County, which was under the jurisdiction of Tanzhou in Sui Dynasty, has a wide range, which is roughly equivalent to Shaodong, Shaoyang City, Shaoyang County, Xinshao County, longhui, Chengbu, Xinning, Wugang, Suining and Dongkou.
During the reign of emperor Yang of the Sui Dynasty, Shaoyang County was occupied by Xiao MI, and Shaoyang County was renamed Jianzhou.
Gaozong of Tang Dynasty changed nanliangzhou into nanliangzhou. Taizong changed nanliangzhou to Shaozhou. Tang Xuanzong changed Shaozhou into Shaoyang County. Tang suzong changed Shaoyang County to Shaozhou, which was under the jurisdiction of Jiangnan Road.
During the Tianfu period of the Five Dynasties (942), Shaozhou was changed to minzhou and Shaoyang County to Minzheng county. However, for a short time, it was immediately changed to Shaozhou, and Minzheng county was Shaoyang County, under the jurisdiction of daowu'an army in Hunan Province.
The Song Dynasty divided the whole country into 15 roads, and Shaozhou belonged to Jinghu South Road.
In 1225, Shaozhou was promoted to Baoqing Prefecture.
In the Yuan Dynasty, Shaoyang was subordinate to Baoqing Road in Huguang province.
In the Ming Dynasty, Shaoyang County was subordinate to Hunan daobaoqing Prefecture.
In the Qing Dynasty, Shaoyang County was subordinate to Si Baoqing's office.
From the sixth year of the Republic of China to the seventh year of the Republic of China (1917-1918), that is, before and after the law protection movement, Baoqing Prefecture was changed into Baoqing county. In the seventeenth year of the Republic of China (1928), Baoqing county was changed into Shaoyang County. In 1938, Hunan Province was divided into nine administrative regions, and Shaoyang was the sixth.
On October 10, 1949, Shaoyang was liberated and Shaoyang County People's government was established.
In 1952, Shaodong county was set up. Because the whole county belongs to Dongxiang of old Shaoyang County, it is named. On February 16, Shaodong county was separated from the former Shaoyang County, belonging to Shaoyang Prefecture.
In 1977, it was divided into Lianyuan area.
In August 1983, the system of city leading county was implemented, and Shaodong county was transferred from Loudi district to Shaoyang City.
On July 12, 2019, with the approval of the State Council and the approval of the Ministry of civil affairs, Shaodong county was abolished and a county-level Shaodong city was established. The former administrative region of Shaodong county was the administrative region of Shaodong City, and the people's Government of Shaodong city was stationed at 288 Xinghe Avenue, dahetang street.

On February 16, 1952, Shaodong county was officially established with the approval of the Government Affairs Council of the people's Republic of China. After the establishment of Shaodong county, it has jurisdiction over 17 districts (county districts), 499 townships and two towns, and 4 towns including Fanjiashan, shetianqiao and Lianqiao.
In 1955, Shaodong county was divided into 55 townships and two towns.
In 1958, most of Banqiao, Shiqiao, Jilong, jiangheqiao and gaochongshan Township in Shaodong county were included in Shaoyang City, and one side of Jieling street and Yaopu were included in Shaodong county.
In October 1958, Shaodong county withdrew towns and established 17 people's communes. In 1961, the county was divided into 8 districts, 73 communes, 3 urban communes and 7 state-owned farms.
In November 1962, most of gaochongshan commune, Jilong, jiangheqiao and Banqiao in Shaoyang City were restored to Shaodong county. At the same time, Shaodong county was adjusted into 9 districts, 80 people's communes and 1 town.
In 1963, Gaotang, HengBan and matouzao of Shaoyang County were assigned to Shaodong county.
In 1965, Shaodong was divided into 9 districts, 43 people's communes and 1 town.
In 1969, the Shandong brigade of Shaoyang County was assigned to Shaodong county.
In 1970, Hexin and Wanfu of Xinshao county were assigned to Shaodong county.
In 1977, gaochongshan and Jilong communes were incorporated into Shaoyang City.
On August 4, 1983, Shaodong abolished Niumasi, shetianqiao and Lianqiao townships and set up three towns.
On February 8, 1984, Shaodong changed the people's commune into 41 townships and one district level town.
On December 29, 1984, Shaodong abolished three townships, xianchaqiao, Fanjiashan and huochangping, and established three towns.
On March 9, 1985, Banqiao and jiangheqiao townships were put under the jurisdiction of Shaoyang suburb. The county governs 17 towns, 8 townships, 1 farm, 3 streets and 1 provincial economic development zone.
In 2013, Shaodong governs 16 towns, 9 townships, 3 streets, 961 administrative villages and 53 communities. In 2015, according to the adjustment plan of Shaodong township administrative division, Fanjiashan town and Niumasi town were merged to establish Niumasi town; huangpiqiao Township and dahetang street were merged to establish dahetang street; shizhuqiao Township and lingguandian town were merged to establish lingguandian town. After the current round of township administrative division adjustment, Shaodong county has reduced three township level organizational systems.
