Shuanghu County Shuanghu county belongs to Naqu city of Tibet Autonomous Region. Historical evolution
Shuanghu is a free translation of "two lakes" in Tibetan. It is named for its location in kangru lake and rajiao lake. In a word, Shuanghu means "suoqiar spring" in Tibetan
In history, it was once called "no man's land" because of the lack of people. In order to develop the "no man's land", Shuanghu office was set up in February 1976, under the jurisdiction of Naqu district administration. In August 1993, Shuanghu office was abolished and Shuanghu special zone in NIMA county was established.
In 1988, when the district was withdrawn and the township was merged, one district and five townships of Shuanghu office were assigned to the Ministry of Education Office (now NIMA county).

The Puruogangri glacier is 80 kilometers north of sogaluma, where the regional authorities are located. In Yaqu Township, the average ice thickness is about 150 meters. The Puruogangri ice source area is 422 square kilometers, and the surface of the ice source is flat, showing a strip distribution in the northwest and southeast direction. More than 50 ice tongues of different lengths radiated from the ice source to the surrounding valleys, with the lowest at an altitude of 5350 meters and the highest at an altitude of 6000 meters. Drilling and radar measurements show that the ice temperature is - 10 ℃. At the bottom of the ice layer, the ice temperature ranges from - 5 ℃ to - 3 ℃.
