Beita district is named Beita because there is a Beita in Beita village of Jiangbei Township on the North Bank of Zijiang River. The tower was built in the fourth year of Longqing in the Ming Dynasty. It is 26 meters high and has seven stories on eight sides. It has a history of more than 400 years.
Beita district has a long history. Since the establishment of Shaoyang County, there have been many merchants here, and a group of prosperity. In the first year of Taikang (280), Shaoling County, the predecessor of Shaoyang City, was established in beitawan, Jiangbei township.
On August 29, 1997, the State Council approved that the eastern, Western and suburban districts of Shaoyang City should be abolished, and Shuangqing District, Daxiang district and Beita District of Shaoyang City should be adjusted and established. On November 24, 2015, the Provincial Department of Civil Affairs (xmxf [2015] No. 71) approved that Tianjiang Township and zhuangyuanzhou street should be merged into zhuangyuanzhou street.
