Licheng District Licheng District, subordinate to Jinan City, Shandong Province, is located in the East and south of Jinan City, with Taishan District and Daiyue district of Tai'an City in the south. It is adjacent to Jiyang District of Jinan City in the north and Zhangqiu District in the East. In the west, it is adjacent to Changqing District, Shizhong District, Lixia District and Tianqiao District. The terrain is high in the South and low in the north. From south to north, the geomorphic types are mountainous hilly zone in the south, piedmont plain zone in the middle and Yellow River plain zone in the north, with a total area of 1298.57 square kilometers.
In 2019, Licheng District has a permanent population of 817600. As of June 2020, Licheng District has 17 streets under its jurisdiction. There are more than 20 universities and scientific research institutes in Licheng District, including Shandong University, Shandong Jianzhu University and Shandong Academy of Agricultural Sciences.

History of construction
Licheng is named after its location in Lishan (today's Qianfoshan area).
The Western Zhou Dynasty belongs to the state of tan. Lu zhuanggong ten years (684 BC), Qi destroyed Tan, belongs to Qi, known as Luoyi.
The Warring States period belongs to the state of Qi, which is called lixiayi.
Qin Dynasty belongs to Jibei county.
In the fourth year of emperor Jingdi of the Western Han Dynasty (153 BC), Licheng county was established, belonging to Jinan county.
The Northern Wei Dynasty belongs to Jinan County of Qizhou.
In the Sui Dynasty, it belonged to Qizhou and Qijun. Kaihuang three years (583), the abolition of Jinan County, belonging to Qizhou. In 607, Qizhou was renamed Qijun.
In the Tang Dynasty, it belonged to Daoqi Prefecture in Henan Province.
In the Northern Song Dynasty, it successively belonged to Qizhou on Jingdong road and Qizhou on Jingdong road. In the sixth year of Zhenghe (1116), after Qizhou was promoted to Jinan government, it belonged to Jinan government on Jingdong East Road.
In the Jin Dynasty, it belongs to Jinan government on Shandong east road.
In Yuan Dynasty, Jinan road was directly under the central government of Zhongshu province.
In Ming Dynasty, it belonged to Jinan government of Shandong Province.
In the second year of the Republic of China (1913), the government was abolished and the road was set up.
In 1914, DaiBei road was renamed Jinan Road, and Licheng County belonged to Jinan road.
In 1928, the road was abandoned and Licheng County belonged to Shandong Province.
In July 1929, the national government established Jinan City in Licheng county and its four suburbs. Licheng still belongs to Shandong Province.
In November 1936, the county office was moved to wangshirenzhuang.
In 1938, Licheng county was the 12th administrative supervision district.
In April 1940, Licheng County belonged to Taishan District of Shandong Province.
In 1946, it was the tenth administrative supervision district of Shandong Province. In June, it was transferred to the third special zone of Bohai administrative region.
In July 1948, the central and southern Shandong administrative regions were merged into the central and southern Shandong administrative region. Licheng county belongs to the first special region of the central and southern Shandong Administrative Region (also known as Taishan special region).
In January 1958, Licheng county was transferred to Jinan City, Shandong Province.
On April 11, 1987, Licheng county and the suburbs of Jinan City were abolished and Licheng District of Jinan City was established, which is under the jurisdiction of Jinan City.

In December 1989, with the approval of the State Council, Sangzidian Town, Jin hometown and Dawang township of Qihe County in Dezhou area were included in Licheng District of Jinan City.
In December 1999, with the approval of Shandong provincial government, Daqiao Town, Sangzidian town and Jin hometown were assigned to Tianqiao District of Jinan City, while Dangjiazhuang town and Shilihe town were assigned to Shizhong District of Jinan City.
In September 2016, Dongjia Town, Caishi Town, Zhonggong town and Liubu town were abolished, and Dongjia street, Caishi street, Zhonggong street and Liubu street were established.
In 2019, Tangwang town will be abolished and Tangwang Street will be established. Xiying town was abolished and Xiying street was established.

The southern mountain area of Licheng District is the north wing of Taishan fold mountain area. The south wing is faulted and the North Wing forms monoclinic structure, that is, the top surface from Mount Tai to the North keeps the original form of gently inclined monoclinic to the northwest. The Southern Hills are mostly composed of Archean gneiss. The hills to the north are composed of Cambrian and Ordovician limestone. The piedmont plain is widely covered with Quaternary sediments, under which is limestone. There are a large number of igneous rocks intruding into the limestone section, forming rock mass, bedrock, dyke and other structures, which laid the foundation of Licheng geological structure.
