Changtai district belongs to Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province. In the second year of Zhou Xiande (955), wuanchang was rebuilt into a county, named Changtai County. On February 2, 2021, Changtai County was abolished and Changtai district was established. In 2019, there will be 228700 permanent residents. As of June 2020, Changtai County has four towns and one township. Changtai District People's government is located at 84 Jiefang Road, Wu'an town.
Changtai County is one of the three thousand year old counties in Zhangzhou and one of the important ancestral places of Taiwan compatriots. In the fourth year of Changxing (933) after the Five Dynasties, Wang Yanjun called himself Emperor, and his state name was min. Changtai belonged to Quanzhou. In the fourth year of Kaiyun in the later Jin Dynasty (947), the Southern Tang Dynasty destroyed Fujian. Changtai is the base of the Southern Tang Dynasty, belonging to Quanzhou.
