Xiangshan District Xiangshan district is a small town with the longest history in Huaibei City. For more than 2000 years, successive dynasties set up counties and counties here respectively, which was named after Xiangshan. Historical evolution
Xiangshan district is named after Xiangshan. More than 4000 years ago, at the foot of Xiangshan, the civil engineering city of the eleventh ancestor of Shangtang Dynasty, the Prime Minister of the Shang Dynasty.
Jian Shu, a statesman in the spring and Autumn period, Huan Tan, a philosopher in the Han Dynasty, and Ji Kang, a "Seven Sages in the bamboo grove" in the Three Kingdoms period, were all born or grew up here.
In 2000, Xiangshan district had jurisdiction over 7 streets and 2 towns.
In 2004, one town in Xiangshan district was changed into a sub district office, and three natural villages in Suixi County were classified as Xiangshan district. In the same year, the neighborhood committees of qingxiangqiao and Hushan North Road in Suixi Town, Suixi County were assigned to the subdistrict office of Sandikou, Xiangshan district. By the end of 2004, Xiangshan district had jurisdiction over seven streets (Renwei, Sandikou, Dongshan, Xiangshan, Xiangnan, Xiangshan and Liuqiao) and one town (Qugou). There are 23 villages and 53 communities with a total area of 100 square kilometers and a population of 330000.
In March 2006, Zhonglou township of Suixi County was incorporated into Qugou town of Xiangshan district.
In 2017, Liuqiao street was abolished.

The main aquifers in Xiangshan area are Quaternary loose pore aquifers and Ordovician carbonate fissure karst aquifers. The groundwater is concentrated in the shallow buried karst area in the periphery of hills and mountains, and the fracture zone karst in limestone is developed, which is basically water filled fault. Xiangshan water source area is located in the west, with a karst water distribution area of about 277.9km2. The north and South boundaries of Xiangshan area are clastic rocks with poor water permeability. The west boundary is Carboniferous Permian coal measures strata, overlying with Quaternary pore water, with a thickness of about 20-100m. The East is the water source area of No.2 Power Plant, with a karst water distribution area of about 249.0km2. The south boundary is clastic rocks with poor water permeability, and the east boundary is coal The mountain watershed is formed by NNE trending compression zone. Controlled by the NNE trending structure of the Xinhua Xia system, the two karst water sources are distributed in the nne-ssw direction, and the middle is the Carboniferous Permian coal measure strata in the Zhahe syncline. There are NNE trending compression and torsion faults, forming the water resisting boundary.

Now it has formed a transportation network with highway, railway and inland river shipping as the main body. Postal communication has entered the top 100 in China and is one of the key communication hubs in China. With the opening and operation of Beijing Shanghai high speed railway, Xiangshan has been integrated into the convenient transportation circle of two and a half hours from Beijing to Shanghai. Within three hours, there are Jinan, Zhengzhou, Hefei, Nanjing and other cities in the economic circle, and there are four airports around, including Nanjing, Hefei, Zhengzhou and Xuzhou. It is 50 km away from Xuzhou International Airport and only 240 km away from Lianyungang. It is the nearest city to the sea in Anhui Province.
