Zanda County, Zanda County in Tibetan, means "the place with grass in the lower reaches", is under the jurisdiction of Ali Prefecture, Tibet Autonomous Region of the people's Republic of China. Located in the Western Tibet Autonomous Region, Xiangquan River Basin, is one of the border counties in Ali Region. The total area is 24601.59 square kilometers. With a total population of 10000 (in 2003), it is the county with the least population in China. County People's Government in Tuolin town Tuolin neighborhood committee.
Except for a few Han and Hui Nationalities, Zada county is Tibetan. The county government is located in Tuolin Town, 3700 meters above sea level, 1760 kilometers away from Lhasa. It is the political, economic and cultural center of the county.
Zada, formerly a dependency of zaburang and Daba. In October 1956, the two cases were merged and the zadazong office was established. Zada county was established in May 1960 under the jurisdiction of Ali Region. The famous site of Guge Dynasty is a key cultural relic protection unit in China.
The county has 110000 mu of arable land, 370000 mu of forest and 31.9 million mu of grassland. It has jurisdiction over 6 districts, 15 townships and 60 villagers' committees.
On September 25, 2018, it won the honorary title of "2018 e-commerce into rural comprehensive demonstration county" of the Ministry of Commerce. On February 6, 2019, the people's Government of Tibet Autonomous Region decided to withdraw Zada county from poverty-stricken county. In October 2020, it was rated as the national model city (county) of double support.
Historical evolution
Zada county was originally the territory of zaburangzong and Daba Zong in Tibet.
In October 1956, zaburang Zong and Daba Zong merged and set up zadara Zong office.
In May 1960, Zada Zong office was abolished and Zada county was established, belonging to Ali Region.

In 1996, Zhada County covers an area of 27054 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over 6 districts, 15 townships, including Diya District, Xiangzi District, Daba District, zaburang District, Sarang district and qusong district. The county government is stationed in Tuolin. In 1999, Zada County withdrew the district and merged the township.
In 2000, Zhada county had jurisdiction over one town and five townships. Tuolin Town, Sarang Township, Daba Township, Diya Township, Xiangzi Township and qusong township. In 2012, Zhada County abolished chulu Songjie Village (originally belonging to qusong township) and established chulu Songjie township. After the adjustment, the county governs one town and six townships.
Diya district was set up in April 1961. It is located in the northwest of the county government, 358 kilometers away from the county government, with a population of 643. It has jurisdiction over three townships, among which Diya township has jurisdiction over four village committees, namely Diya, Mayang, rongdui and Gutan; shibuqi township has jurisdiction over four village committees, namely shibuqi, jiuba, segong and Reni; Luba township has jurisdiction over three village committees, namely Luba, Nuba and Yidi.
Xiangzi district was set up in April 1961. It is located in the northwest of the county government, 70 kilometers away from the county government, with a population of 1000. It has jurisdiction over 2 townships, including Xiangzi, Xiayi, qilipu, Xiangba and surgang village committees in Xiangzi Township, and 8 village committees in rebujialin Township, including bujialin, xixie, Sega, regaxia, jiaozi, xialang, rizijiao and Jiangtang.
Dabaqu was set up in April 1961. Located in the middle of the county, 96 kilometers away from the county government, with a population of 0900. It has jurisdiction over three townships, among which Daba township has jurisdiction over three village committees, Dongbo township has jurisdiction over three village committees, and qionglong township has jurisdiction over four village committees.
It is located in the west of the county, 204 kilometers away from the county government, with a population of 0700. It has jurisdiction over two townships, including three village committees of sarrang, dangba and Baiga, and three village committees of riba, quse and gabuere.
Zabugang district was set up in October 1976. It is located in the southwest of the county government, 20 kilometers away from the county government, with a population of 0700. It governs three townships, among which Tuolin Township governs three village committees: Tuolin, zabu and Malang; Dongga Township governs three village committees: Dongga, baidongbo and Peiyang; Bolin Township governs three village committees: Bolin, Kazi and Duoxiang.
Qusong district was established in October 1976. It is located in the northwest of the county, 240 kilometers away from the county government, with a population of 0800. It has jurisdiction over two townships, among which qumudi township has jurisdiction over four village committees, and chulu Songjie township has jurisdiction over four village committees.

Zada county is located in the west of Tibet Autonomous Region and the southwest of Ali Region. It is adjacent to Pulan County in the southeast, to Gar County in the northeast, and to India in the north, West and south. This section of the border is the middle part of the Sino Indian border, which is bounded by the Indian Kashmir watershed in the north and the Himalayan snow peak in the West and south. Zada county is adjacent to Himachal Pradesh of India in the west, Punjab of India in the south, Kashmir in the north, Rutu and Gar counties in the north and northeast, and Pulan County in the East. County resident Tuoding village is located 115 km south of Shiquanhe town in Ali district.
Topography
Zhada county is low in the South and high in the north, with an elevation difference of 1500 meters. Ayirariju mountain, also known as "Ayla mountain", means "Granny mountain". In the territory of Ali Zada County, it is located in the east of the county. It is the boundary mountain between Zhada county and Gar county. It is connected with Ladakh mountain in the west, and the main peak is 6495 meters above sea level. There is snow all year round and glaciers. The foothills are natural pastures with yaks and Tibetan sheep.

There are 14 rivers in Zada County, among which Xiangquan River, the second river in Ali area, crosses the county. Xiangquan river is located on the northwest slope of gangrenbuqin, the main peak of the Gangdise mountains. There is a spring in the shape of an elephant. People call the river flowing from here Xiangquan river.
Xiangquan River (known as "Langqin Zangbo" in Tibetan) originates from the west side of gangrenbuqin peak and lies between Gangdese mountain and Himalayas. It is a source river of Indus River flowing into Pakistan and the source of sutriri River in India, covering an area of 22760 square kilometers. When you enter Zada, you will see the Xiangquan River surrounded by the earth forests on both sides. The Xiangquan river flows from the Himalayas and the gangdises to the northwest, through Zada County in Ali, across the Indian border, and into the Indian Ocean.
