Baohe District, Hefei City, Anhui Province

Baohe District, under the jurisdiction of Hefei City, Anhui Province, is one of the central urban areas of Hefei city. It gets its name from Baohe scenic area and is famous for the hometown of Baogong, a famous official in the Northern Song Dynasty. It is located in the North Bank of Chaohu Lake, Southeast of Hefei City, between the Yangtze River and Huaihe River. It can reach the sea through the Nanfei river. The total area is 340 square kilometers, of which the Chaohu Lake area is 70 square kilometers.

In 2002, Baohe district had jurisdiction over one township of Dawu in the former suburb and four towns of Yixing, Yicheng, Luogang and Changqing. It is divided into three streets: Chaohu Road, Wuhu Road and Ningguo road. The area to the east of Jinzhai Road, Daoxiang village and nanqilizhan street in the former western urban area is merged with the area to the east of Jinzhai Road, Changqing town in the former suburb, which is under the jurisdiction of Changqing town government, and the residence of the town government remains unchanged. Luogang Town, Baohe district was under the jurisdiction of three villages, namely, fenkou, Zhougudui and wulimiao in Chengdong Township, the former suburb. After the adjustment, Baohe district has jurisdiction over one township of Dawu, four towns of Yixing, Yicheng, Luogang and Changqing, and three streets of Chaohu Road, Wuhu Road and Ningguo road.

By the end of 2004, Baohe district had jurisdiction over five streets, two towns and one township: Changqing street, Ningguo road street, Wuhu Road Street, Chaohu Road Street, Luogang street, Yixing Town, Yicheng town and Dawu township.

In 2006, Anhui Provincial Department of Civil Affairs approved that the whole system of Yandun Township in Feixi County should be put under the jurisdiction of Baohe District in Hefei City (No.71 of Min Di Zi): it was agreed that Yandun Township in Feixi County should be put under the jurisdiction of Baohe District in Hefei city.

In April 2007, with the approval of the Provincial Department of civil affairs and Hefei Municipal People's government, Baohe District carried out administrative division adjustment. It has jurisdiction over 7 streets, 2 towns, 1 provincial industrial park and 1 street level community: Changqing street, Wuhu Road Street, Baogong Street, Luogang street, Wanghu street, Feihe Town, Dawu Town, Yicheng street, Yandun street, Baohe Industrial Zone (Luogang Street), Binhu Shiji community and Binhu Fangxing community.

In February 2013, Binhu century community service center was officially launched.

In February 2015, Hefei Baohe Industrial Park was renamed as Hefei Baohe economic development zone.

In May 2015, Fangxing community service center was officially launched.

In May 2017, wannianbu street was officially listed.

Location context

The center of Baohe district is located at 32 N and 117 e, between the Yangtze River and Huaihe River, and on the shore of Chaohu Lake. It reaches the sea through the Nanfei River, and connects five rivers with a lake -- Baohe River, Nanfei River, Shiwuli River, Tangxi River and Paihe river. It is close to Chaohu Lake in the South and national Hefei Economic and Technological Development Zone in the West. Baohe district covers an area of 340 square kilometers, of which Chaohu Lake covers an area of 70 square kilometers.

Topography and geology

Baohe district is located in Jianghuai Hilly Area, the terrain is relatively flat, high in the north and low in the south. From the perspective of geological structure, Hefei area is located in the Yanshanian fault basin, and the strata seen are mainly from the Mesozoic Jurassic. In ancient times, the river incised gently and moved laterally. There were accumulated loose soil layers near the riverbed and lakeside, forming a plain. There were no mountains in the area. The landform presents gravel feldspar quartz sandstone texture. The most characteristic landform of this area is large polder area, among which Dongda polder is the most representative. Dongda polder is a vast polder area formed between the embankment on the right bank of Nanfei River and the Western hillock. The total area of the polder area is about 20 square kilometers, the length of the dike is about 13 kilometers, and the ground elevation of the polder is 2-3 meters lower than that of Nanfei River and Chaohu Lake. Dikes were built in Qianlong period of Qing Dynasty, with a history of nearly 300 years from 2005.

The main water systems in Baohe district are Nanfei River, Shiwuli River, Tangxi River, and Chaohu Lake, one of the five largest freshwater lakes in China. The west half of Chaohu Lake is located in the south of Hefei city. The west half of Chaohu Lake accounts for about one third of the total area of Chaohu Lake, and its water shoreline is 180 km in circumference. Nanfei river originates from the south side of jiangjunling in Jianghuai watershed, with a total length of 70 km. It flows to the southeast. It enters Dongpu reservoir in xiadafei, passes through Hefei City, and then it is injected into Chaohu Lake in Shikou village, Yicheng Town, Baohe district. More than 20 kilometers downstream of Nanfei river flows through Baohe district. Originating from the southern foot of Dashushan mountain, Shiwuli river has a total length of 27.1 kilometers and a flow area of 11.25 square kilometers. It flows from northwest to Southeast, and injects into Chaohu Lake in wangliao village, Yicheng Town, Baohe district. It is one of the main flood passage in southwest Hefei City, and its downstream is 13.7 kilometers in Baohe district.
