Wancheng District, Wancheng District, under the jurisdiction of Nanyang City, Henan Province, is located in the southwest of Henan Province and the hinterland of Nanyang basin. It borders Fangcheng in the north, Sheqi and Tanghe in the East, Xinye in the South and Wolong District in the West.
Wancheng District has a long history, splendid culture and outstanding people. In the spring and Autumn period, Chu destroyed the city of Wan, which was called Wan in history. The origin of the name
Wan is one of the earliest place names in Nanyang. Wan reflects not only the geomorphic features of the basin, but also its ecological environment. Shuo Wen Jie Zi: Wan, Qu Cao walks on his own, from the sound of music and music.
Its meaning is: 1) the "high school in Sifang is located in the center", which is in line with the geomorphic characteristics of Nanyang Basin, which is surrounded by mountains in the west, North and East, and is low and flat in the middle; 2) the "grass covered land" is green and green.
In the early spring and Autumn period, the state of Chu in the South became more and more powerful and annexed the states in the Han River basin to the north. Lu and Shen were also destroyed by King Wen of Chu.
After the state of Chu occupied this land with both fertile fields and rivers, it built Wanyi here as a base to explore the Central Plains. The name of Wan began from then on. Since then, Wan has evolved from a domain name to "Wancheng", "Wanxian", "Wanzhou", "Shangwan county", etc. "Nanyang City" and "Wancheng District" both take "Wan" as their conventional abbreviation.

Early history
In the reign of King Xuan of Zhou, it was called the kingdom of Shenbo.
In the spring and Autumn period, when Chu was defeated, he applied to build the city of Wan, which was first called Wan. The Warring States period belonged to Korea.
In the 43rd year of King Nan of Zhou Dynasty (272 BC), Wan county was set up as the governing seat of Nanyang County.
In the Western Han Dynasty, because of the old system of Qin Dynasty, Xinmang changed Nanyang County into "Qiandui" (duyinni), and Wanxian County into Nanyang County.
The Eastern Han Dynasty restored the old system of the Western Han Dynasty. Wan county is still the seat of Nanyang County. In the Northern Zhou Dynasty, Wan county was called Shangwan.
In 583, Emperor Wen of Sui Dynasty changed Shangwan into Nanyang County.
In the third year of Wude (620), Emperor Gaozu of Tang Dynasty set up Wanzhou and owned Nanyang County. In the eighth year of Wude (625), Wanzhou was abolished.
In the third year of Zhengda (1226), Jin AI Zong set up Shenzhou and Nanyang as his hospital.
Yuansheng Shenzhou is Nanyang Prefecture.
In the Ming and Qing Dynasties, there was still a government, and Nanyang County was governed by the government.
Modern times
During the revolution of 1911, Xu Wannian and Wang Henian, members of Nanyang County Alliance, succeeded in the uprising of Wuchang, overthrowing the Qing Dynasty and ending the feudal society that ruled China for more than 2000 years.
In 1913, when Bai Lang (from Henan Province, who led the uprising against Yuan Shikai's becoming emperor, had a great influence in the whole country) uprising, the people of Nanyang County responded to the rebel army's capture of Nanyang.
Modern times
In 1919, Nanyang young students actively responded to the May 4th anti imperialist patriotic movement and set off a tide of revolution. Although they were suppressed by the Kuomintang reactionary Wu Qingtong, the garrison of Nanyang County, patriotism spread rapidly throughout the county. The decision of Nanyang County Chamber of Commerce to stop buying and selling Japanese goods has produced strong social repercussions.
In April 1923, Henan Provincial No.5 Middle School (the predecessor of Nanyang No.1 Middle School), British funded specialized school, county No.1 high school, student union, Education Association, chamber of Commerce and other schools or groups gathered and marched in the rain, distributed leaflets, and called Beijing government to protect our territory.
In 1925, the students of all schools in Nanyang city held a strike and launched the establishment of Nanyang Shanghai case support association.
Wancheng District was established earlier. In 1914, Nanyang Prefecture was abolished and changed to nanru road. After the road waste belongs to the province. In the 21st year of the Republic of China (1932), it belonged to the sixth administrative supervision district of Henan Province, and Nanyang County was liberated in November 1948.
In March 1949, Nanyang people's democratic government was established under the jurisdiction of Nanyang District, Henan Province. On November 22 of the same year, Nanyang city was established as a county and a city.
Contemporary period
On June 16, 1960, Nanyang County was incorporated into the city.
On July 26, 1961, counties and cities were re divided.
In 1994, Wancheng District and Wolong District were newly established in Nanyang city.
