Yuhuatai District Yuhuatai District, located in the central part of Nanjing, is one of the eight districts in the main city of Nanjing. It is an important national software industry and information service center, an important transportation hub, innovation base and emerging industry R & D center in the eastern region of China. It is a famous software City demonstration area in China with software and information service industry and science and technology service industry as the leading industries.
Yuhuatai District was founded in 1934, which originated from the 11th district (shangxinhe District) in the period of the Republic of China. Yuhuatai District is a "green ecological corridor" in Nanjing, with a variety of geomorphic types, complete water, mountains, dikes and continents, piedmont of Jiangjun mountain, Niushou mountain and Daishan mountain, rivers and lakes of Qinhuai New River, Dashi lake and shizha lake, Yuhuatai scenic spot, Jiangjun mountain scenic spot and Wuni King's tomb.
Yuhuatai District is a national demonstration base of new industrialization (software and information service industry). Historical evolution
The name of Yuhuatai District comes from Yuhuatai, which was formed by the accumulation of the ancient Yangtze River and its tributaries, the ancient Qinhuai River, two or three million years ago. It is said that master Yun Guang, the eminent monk of the Liang Dynasty, set up an altar here to preach the Scriptures. He felt the God of heaven weeping and the falling flowers were like rain, so it was named Yuhuatai.
In March 1933, Nanjing was divided into eight districts.
In 1934, Nanjing was divided into three districts, namely Xiaolingwei, Yanziji and shangxinhe, with nine, ten and eleven districts. The city was divided into 11 districts. The 11th district (shangxinhe District) is the earliest prototype of Yuhuatai District.
In 1945, Japan surrendered in August. In September, the national government rebuilt the Nanjing municipal government. In addition to restoring the 11 districts before the Anti Japanese War, Andemen was added to 12 districts.
In June 1950, the original 11 districts were changed into 10 districts, and the original 12 districts were changed into 11 districts.
In October 1952, the East China military and political Commission decided that Shigang, Hongmiao, and Zicun in the six districts of Jiangning County belong to Nanjing city and belong to ten districts.
In June 1953, with the approval of the East China military and political Commission, the 11 districts were abolished. The eight townships of Yongding, Qigan, Donghong, Yuantong, Dasheng, Zhonghe, Xinglong and Shuangzha in the eleventh District, five villages of Jiangdong and chating townships, belong to Jiangning County; the three townships of chating, Qingjiang and Jiangdong and shangxinhe town in the eleventh district are merged into the four districts (later changed into ten districts).
In August 1955, ten districts were renamed Yuhuatai District.
In December 1955, with the approval of the State Council, 12 townships and Banqiao Town in Jiangning County, including flagpole, Yuantong, Shuiding, Shuangzha, Zhonghe, Dasheng, Jinhua, Qiaobei, Taishan, Tiexin, jiagangmen and Xinglong, were classified as Yuhuatai District.
From 1955 to 1985, Yuhuatai District governed nine townships and one town, namely Shuangzha Township, xishanqiao Township, jiangdongmen Township, Tiexinqiao Township, Shazhou Township, Banqiao Township, Honghua Township, Ningnan Township, Shimenkan Township and Yuhua town (today's saihongqiao area in Yuhua New Village).
From 1985 to 1995, Yuhuatai District implemented regional area integration. After integration, jiangdongmen township was assigned to Gulou District, Honghua township to Qinhuai District, and Shimenkan to Baixia District. After integration, Yuhuatai District governs Shuangzha Town, xishanqiao Town, Shazhou street, Banqiao Town, Tiexinqiao Town, yuhuaxincun street, Ningnan street and saihongqiao street.
In 1995, Nanjing adjusted its urban administrative division. Shimenkan town of Yuhuatai District, alfalfa garden and Houzhuang village of Xiaolingwei town of Qixia District were put under the jurisdiction of Baixia District. The area of Honghua town and dajiaochang airport in Yuhuatai District is under the jurisdiction of Qinhuai District. The five administrative villages of Henan, Suojie, Xinglong, Xiangyang and Donglin under the jurisdiction of Jiangdong Town, Yuhuatai District, and the three neighborhood committees of rendongqiao, mianhuadi and luoziqiao, as well as the former chating administrative village, were put under the jurisdiction of Jianye District. The establishment of Jiangdong town in Yuhuatai District, the three administrative villages of Qingjiang, Jiangdong and Hebei under the jurisdiction of Jiangdong town and the South half of Zhongbao village, as well as the three neighborhood committees of jiangdongmen, Xinhekou and Erdaoqiao, will be put under the jurisdiction of Gulou District. The northern part of Zhongbao village, Jiangdong Town, Yuhuatai District, and Wutang village, Xiaoshi Town, Qixia District and Maigaoqiao Town, are under the jurisdiction of Xiaguan District. The area of Nonghua village in Dongshan Town of Jiangning County, five administrative villages in Yongan, Sunjia, Shaozhuang, Xinjian and Sanshan of Jiangning town and Mei Village in Guli township are under the jurisdiction of Yuhuatai District.
In 2002, Shazhou and Shuangzha sub district offices of Yuhuatai District were under the jurisdiction of Jianye District; the south part of Qinhuai new river of Shazhou and Shuangzha sub district offices of Yuhuatai District were under the jurisdiction of xishanqiao sub district office of Yuhuatai District; Chaotiangong and zhimaying sub district offices of Jianye District were under the jurisdiction of Baixia District; Hanzhongmen street of Jianye District and its north part extending to the Yangtze River were under the jurisdiction of Jiangdong sub district office of Gulou District The south part of Hanzhongmen street and its west extension to the Yangtze River section in Gulou District is under the jurisdiction of Xinglong sub district office of Jianye District. After the above adjustment, the total population of Baixia, Jianye, Gulou and Yuhuatai are 523600, 256500, 556000 and 220000 respectively.
In 2002, with the approval of the provincial people's government, some administrative divisions of Nanjing were adjusted. The specific adjustment plan is as follows: Yuhuatai District, Shazhou, Shuangzha two sub district offices north of Qinhuai New River and their organizational system are under the jurisdiction of Jianye District; after Shazhou, Shuangzha two sub district offices north of Qinhuai New River in Yuhuatai District are under the jurisdiction of Jianye District, the former Shazhou, Shuangzha two sub district offices south of Qinhuai New River are under the jurisdiction of xishanqiao sub district office in Yuhuatai District. After the adjustment, Yuhuatai District covers an area of 134.6 square kilometers, has a population of 220000 and governs seven streets.
In July 2012, the street division of Yuhuatai District was adjusted, and Ningnan Street office and yuhuaxincun Street office were merged to form a new "Yuhua Street". Taking Yuhua South Road as the boundary, the former Yuhua New Village Street area to the north of Yuhua south road is divided into the newly established Yuhua street, and the former Yuhua New Village Street area to the south of Yuhua south road is divided into saihongqiao street. Yuhuatai District governs six streets: Yuhua, Tiexinqiao, Banqiao, xishanqiao, saihongqiao and Meishan.
In March 2020, Nanjing Municipal People's government agreed to establish a new guxiong street in Yuhuatai District. The administrative area of guxiong street is as follows: to the administrative boundary of Jiangning District in the East, to the boundary of guxiong community and new community in the south, to the northern boundary of Shangyi village in Meishan Street along the northern wall of oasis machinery factory, to the boundary of Ning Wu Railway in the west, and to the boundary of xishanqiao street in the north. Yuhuatai District is located in the south of the main city of Nanjing, in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, bordering Jiangning District in the East and south, Pukou District across the Yangtze River in the west, Qinhuai District and Jianye District in the north, with an area of 132.39 square kilometers (excluding the area of the River).
landforms
Yuhuatai area is high in the southeast and low in the northwest, belonging to hilly and plain areas. To the west of the region is a vast plain with an elevation of only 5-8 meters, accounting for 72.4% of the total area. It is a vegetable, flower and grain production base. The low mountains and hills are mainly composed of Hanfu mountain, Jiangjun mountain and Niushou mountain, accounting for 6.7% of the total area. The mountains are covered by trees, and the natural vegetation is well preserved. The forest coverage rate is 26%, and the green coverage rate is 48.3%. It is the "green ecological corridor" of Nanjing, known as the "spring outing to Niushou".

There are 26 rivers and lakes in Yuhuatai District, including Qinhuai River, Qinhuai New River, dashihu lake, Nanhe River, Banqiao River, shizha lake and so on. There are several reservoirs in the mountainous area. Ponds are densely distributed in the polder area, and the water system is smooth and interweaved into a network. Dashihu lake has excellent ecological environment and pleasant scenery on both sides of Qinhuai new river. It is the most rare "paradise" in a prosperous metropolis.
