Evolution of organizational system
In 195, Emperor Xian of the Eastern Han Dynasty, sun CE occupied Jiangdong and established Fengan County in Taimo and Zhuji. During the Three Kingdoms, the two Jin Dynasties and the Southern Dynasties, feng'an once belonged to Dongyang county and Jinhua County.
In the ninth year of kaihuang (589) of the Sui Dynasty, it was merged into Jiangnan Prefecture and county, and Fengan county was abolished. It was incorporated into Wuning (now Jinhua) and established as a garrison town, belonging to Dongyang County, the general manager of Wuzhou Prefecture.
In the 13th year of Tang Tianbao (754), Yiwu, Lanxi and Fuyang were located in Puyang County, which was named after Puyang river. It belongs to Dongyang County, the east of Jiangnan. The county government is located in today's Puyang town.
In the Five Dynasties, it belonged to Wuzhou, the state of Wuyue. Qian Liu, the king of Wuyue, had a grudge against Yang xingmi, the father of Yang Longyan, the king of Wuyue. He wrote to Taizu of Liang Dynasty that all the names of counties with the same pronunciation as Yang were changed, so he changed Puyang County to Pujiang County in the fourth year of Kaiping (the third year of Tianbao of Wuyue, 910). Since then, the relationship of subordination has changed, and the name of Pujiang has been used.
In 1949, Pujiang was liberated, and it was subordinate to Jinhua special district of Zhejiang Province.
On January 7, 1960, the State Council decided to abolish the organizational system of Pujiang County. Except that the administrative areas of Meijiang people's commune (equivalent to districts) were transferred to Lanxi County, other administrative areas were merged into Yiwu county.
On December 22, 1966, the State Council approved the restoration of Pujiang County, which was incorporated into the original administrative region of Yiwu county and restored to Pujiang. The county is located in Puyang Town, which belongs to Jinhua area.

The mountains are undulating, mostly medium and low. Among them, Chaotianmen on the boundary of Tonglu City, with an altitude of 1050 meters, is the highest point in the county. The middle branch lies in the middle of the county, commonly known as Beishan, which is the natural boundary between Pujiang basin and Northwest Mountainous Area. The southern branch winds between the southern part of the county and Lanxi and Yiwu, commonly known as Nanshan. Pujiang River belongs to Qiantang River system. The Puyang River, which originates from the southern foot of tianlingyan in the west of the county, flows from west to East, from the northeast of Tangli in Baima town to Zhuji City, and to Wenyan town in Xiaoshan District of Hangzhou city to Qiantang River. Along the way, there are 32 streams including Honggong River and Shenxi river. Huyuan river originates from the northwest foot of tianlingyan, flows eastward to hangkouping, turns northward, leaves Dazi north of Tanxi Town, and flows northward into Fucun River from Tonglu County to shijikou town of Fuyang. Along the way, there are big and small Guyuan River, luojiayuan River, etc. Dachen river flows through the southeast of the county and joins Puyang River in Anhua town of Zhuji City. 61 medium and small reservoirs with a total capacity of 137.76 million cubic meters have been built. There are also Tongjiqiao reservoir north, middle and South canals across the East and West. Huyuan water diversion project from Jiangxi Province to the East flows the water from Huyuan River to jinkengling reservoir through hangkouping East diversion tunnel, so that the farmland at the foot of Beishan can be irrigated and developed.
