Yuecheng District, under the jurisdiction of Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province, is located in the west of Ningshao plain and the north foot of Kuaiji mountain. In 490 bc, King Gou Jian of Yue moved his capital and built the city here. Kuaiji Prefecture was set up in the Qin Dynasty and Yuezhou in the Tang Dynasty. It once became the temporary capital of the Southern Song Dynasty and the place where the king of Lu supervised the state in the late Ming Dynasty. On December 16, 2000, zhezhengfa No. 281 approved that Yuling Township 2 administrative village in Yuecheng district should be under the jurisdiction of Jishan street; Yuling Township Dazhong and Xingang village 2 in Yuecheng district should be under the jurisdiction of Jishan street.
On January 13, 2001, with the approval of the State Council, Doumen town (excluding xinmashan village, xinhezuo village, xinhuangfu village, xinsunduan village, xindoujiang village and xindoumen Village), Dongpu town, Jianhu Town, Gaobu town and Mashan town of Shaoxing County were put under the jurisdiction of Yuecheng District of Shaoxing City. The area of Yuecheng district has increased from 101 square kilometers to 336 square kilometers.
On July 23, 2001, zhezhenghan [2001] No. 140 approved the adjustment of the administrative division of Yuecheng District in Shaoxing City: the establishment of Chengdong township was abolished, most of it was incorporated into Donghu Town, 32 villages and 4 residences were under the jurisdiction of Huilong Village (the original Chengdong Township site). Lingzhi Township and Meishan Township were abolished. Most of the former Lingzhi Township and Meishan Township were merged to establish Lingzhi Town, which has jurisdiction over 26 villages and is located in qutun Village (the former Meishan Township site). The organizational system of Tingshan Township and Yuling township was abolished, and the rest of the original Chengdong Township, the original Lingzhi Township and Jianhu town were changed to the Yuecheng district government and a number of streets were set up. On July 26, 2001, SZF [2001] No. 94 approved that Fushan street should be expanded and the original Tingshan township should be merged. On January 30, 2003, zhezhenghan No. 12 approved that qilijiang and other 15 villages in Qixian town of Shaoxing County should be under the jurisdiction of Lingzhi town of Yuecheng District, and qilijiang, Zhuangtou, Lintou, Wufeng, Qianwang, Luyang, Luzhuang, Houzhu, gouyanggouchahu, Shanquan, Xishantou, Qingyun, Lidai, Daqing temple and Jiahui 15 villages in Qixian town of Shaoxing County should be under the jurisdiction of Lingzhi town of Yuecheng district. After the adjustment, Qixian town of Shaoxing County governs 33 villages, 6 neighborhood committees and the town government remains unchanged (Qianjin Village); Lingzhi town of Yuecheng District governs 41 villages and the town government remains unchanged (qutun Village).
On March 15, 2007, notice on the establishment of Didang sub district office: after research, it is agreed to set up Didang sub district office in Yuecheng District of Shaoxing City, which will be managed by the Management Committee of Shaoxing Economic Development Zone.
