landforms
Longchang city is a low mountain and hilly system extending southwest of Huayingshan mountains in the parallel mountain valley area of East Sichuan. The whole terrain is higher in the northeast and lower in the southwest, with the highest altitude of 665.8 meters and the lowest altitude of 290 meters. It is mainly hilly landform, which can be roughly divided into three types: low mountain, low hill and shallow hill. The low mountain area is mainly composed of Youfang mountain, Yunding mountain and shengdeng mountain, accounting for about 15% of the total area; the low hilly area is mainly distributed in Huangjia, Shuangfeng, Yingxiang and Jieshi in the northwest, accounting for about 29% of the total area; the shallow hilly area is mainly distributed in the middle of Longchang, running through the whole territory from east to west, accounting for about 56% of the total area. The terrain is high in the northwest and low in the southeast. In the west of the city, there is Guyu Lake (built artificially in the 1970s) formed by damming the surrounding hills, with the highest water level of 350.55 meters and the lowest water level of 348.00 meters; in the southwest is shengdeng mountain, with the main peak at 563 meters above sea level; the Longchang river flows through the city from north to south, with winding rivers and terraces on the East and West banks.
soil
The main soil types in Longchang are purple soil, yellow soil and paddy soil, which are suitable for all kinds of crops. The soil is mainly parent rock, and the parent material is mainly carbonate rock, including limestone, dolomitic limestone and argillaceous limestone. The clay content less than 0.01M is more than 50% in the soil developed from the parent rock. The texture of the soil is relatively sticky, mostly light clay or medium clay, with poor water permeability and strong water retention.
Purple soil is a relatively fertile agricultural soil, but due to the poor development of micro aggregates, easy to break up in water and weak anti erosion ability, purple soil area is also one of the areas with serious soil and water loss; yellow soil has poor development of aggregates and weak anti erosion ability, which is prone to soil and water loss; paddy soil is a kind of artificial soil. After years of intensive cultivation, the paddy soil along the line has a good accumulation of organic matter. Compared with the dry farming soil, the paddy soil has a high humus coefficient and high fertility. The cultivated layer is generally more than 20cm. Because the paddy soil is located in a relatively flat terrain, most of which are paddy fields, mainly planting crops rice. The paddy field has a better soil and water conservation ability, so the soil erosion is relatively light.
