Nanxun district belongs to Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province. It is an emerging city in Shanghai metropolitan area and Hangzhou metropolitan area. It is located in the north of Hangjiahu Plain, in the center of Shanghai, Suzhou and Hangzhou in the Yangtze River Delta, connecting Hangzhou, the provincial capital in the south, Taihu Lake in the North, Suzhou and Shanghai in the East, and Nanjing in the West.
In January 2003, Nanxun established Huzhou municipal district, formerly known as Dongqian County, which was built in the Western Jin Dynasty. As of 2013, Nanxun district has jurisdiction over 9 towns, 1 provincial economic development zone and 1 international tourist resort, covering an area of 702.17 square kilometers.
On January 25, 2019, it was selected as the national "safe agricultural machinery" Demonstration County in 2018. In July 2019, it was listed as a national intellectual property project demonstration county (District). In October 2019, it was rated as one of the top 100 green development zones in China in 2019. It was selected as one of the top 100 new urbanization quality districts in China in 2019.
Historical evolution
According to the Hongcheng, Huacheng, Shangshi and other ancient cultural sites found in Nanxun District, as early as the Neolithic age, the clan tribes of primitive society flourished here.
In history, the subordination of Nanxun has changed greatly. It is said that Xiayu controlled the flood and designated the world as Kyushu, while Nanxun was under the jurisdiction of Yangzhou.
During the spring and Autumn period and the Warring States period, it belonged to Wu, Yue and Chu successively.
In 333 BC, Chu established Zicheng County as the capital of Huang Xie, the emperor of Chunshen. Nanxun was subordinate to Zicheng county.
After the Qin Dynasty destroyed the six states, it was divided into 36 counties, including Kuaiji County, Wucheng county and Youquan county.
In the third year of Taikang in the Western Jin Dynasty (282 A.D.), Wucheng county was divided into Dongxiang and Dongqian county. The county government was in the present old hall. In 476 A.D., Dongqian county was renamed Dongan County, and it was renamed Dongqian county the next year.
In 589 ad, Wucheng county was merged into Dongqian county. In the seventh year of the Taiping reign of the Song Dynasty, it was divided into 15 townships in the southeast of Wucheng county and set up Guian county.
In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), Wucheng and Gui'an were merged into Wuxing County, which is now under the jurisdiction of Nanxun.
On May 2, 1949, Nanxun was liberated, and now Nanxun is under the jurisdiction of Wuxing county.
In January 1981, Wuxing county was abolished and renamed Huzhou City.
In July 1983, Jiaxing area was abolished, Huzhou City was changed into a city under the provincial jurisdiction, and two districts, namely, urban and suburban areas, were established. Nanxun was subordinate to the suburb of Huzhou City.
In November 1988, the urban and suburban system of Huzhou City was abolished, and the system of city governing county and directly leading the towns and streets of the original city and suburb was implemented. The towns in Nanxun district were directly under Huzhou City.
In September 1993, Huzhou City set up three working committees, namely, urban district, Nanxun district and Linghu district. Nanxun Town, Lianshi Town, Shuanglin Town, Shanlian town and Jiuguan town belong to Nanxun District Working Committee; Linghu Town, Hefu Town, Qianjin town and Shicong town belong to Linghu District Working Committee.
In January 2003, according to the spirit of the documents of the State Council (guohan (2003) No.2) and the provincial government (zhezhengfa (2003) No.2), Huzhou abolished the three district committees and district management committees of Chengcheng District, Nanxun district and Linghu District, and established two municipal districts of Wuxing district and Nanxun District. Nanxun district Party committee and government are located in Nanxun Town, with jurisdiction over nine towns, namely Nanxun, Shuanglin, Lianshi, Shanlian, Jiuguan, Linghu, Hefu, Qianjin and Shicong, as well as Nanxun ancient town management committee and Nanxun economic development zone.

Nanxun district is located in the northeast of Huzhou City, in the Hangjiahu Plain in the north of Zhejiang Province. It is adjacent to Tongxiang City in the southeast, Wujiang District of Suzhou City in the northeast, Deqing County in the South and Wuxing District in the northwest. The terrain is low and flat, and the river network is dense, which is a typical water network plain.

Nanxun district is a typical plain in the south of the Yangtze River, with low terrain and an average altitude of less than 5 meters. There are 1035 rivers with a total length of 1674 km, a total water area of 84.7 square kilometers and a river network rate of 12%. The terrain is flat, with only a few hills below 100 meters above sea level. Changchao mountain is the highest peak (98.5 meters) in the whole region. There are two hills in the suburb, beside Fuyang and Hengshan, namely Longwang mountain and niheng mountain. In the west, there are Shishan mountain and Maoshan mountain, which are located in xiaang of Linghu. In the East, there is a famous mound, which is located in Shanlian, named Hanshan. Hanshan is a silkworm flower resort, standing on the Bank of Beijing Hangzhou Grand Canal, which is the landmark landscape of Henan Xun section of Beijing Hangzhou Grand Canal. The soil is mainly alluvial soil and paddy soil. The whole area is densely covered with river network, which is a typical water network plain. The South Jiangsu canal (Zhenjiang Jianbi Changzhou Nanxun) is 224 kilometers long. It runs through Changzhou, Zhenjiang, Wuxi, Suzhou and other counties and cities with the most developed economy in Jiangsu Province, connecting the Yangtze River and Taihu Lake systems, and connecting with the inter provincial rivers in Shanghai, Zhejiang and other surrounding areas. Zhejiang section (Nanxun Hangzhou), with a total length of more than 120 kilometers, connects the Taihu River system and the Qiantang River system. It is divided into three routes: East, middle and West. Generally, the East Route represents the location of the canal.
